So I was hauling a buddies quad in my Weekend Warrior, and his bike spilled quite a bit of gas on the floor. IT seemed to soak up a bit in the wood. I cleaned it up, however, still smells of gas fumes on that spot on the floor. Any tips on what I could use to help get rid of this?

I know cat litter helps absorb when oil is spilled on concrete, anyone use this in their toy hauler?

Just keep the room ventilated, and spray some soap and water on it. Don't turn on any electrical things, as a spark could ignite it. If after a few days it still smells, pour some tomato juice on the area, (that's what takes skunk smells away), and should take the gasoline smell too. Let it sit for a few hours and them soap and water it again.

1 Dry the spill as much as possible using paper towels.

2 Mix a solution of one part regular white vinegar to seven parts hot water and douse the spill with it. Either use paper towels to sop the water back up or utilize a wet vac.

3 When you have cleaned up as much of the vinegar solution as you can, rinse the spot with a second solution of 1 part baking soda to 10 parts hot water. Again, vacuum the water or blot with paper towels.

4 Pat the area dry. Once the spill has been allowed to dry completely, the gasoline and vinegar odors will have dissipated.

Spread some kitty litter or dry sweep over the area and let it sit for a few days.

I always just ventilated the room, used paper towels then sprayed Simple Green on and wiped it up.

I had a gas leak from a generator. The whole trailer smelled of gas. I used Fabreze to get rid of the odor. It took two applications, but cleared it up.

Air it out and give it time. Been spilling gasoline for over 50 years, somewhere, on something. The smell goes away eventually.

Hi,

We where told in high school that if we scrub on a gasoline spill, and create a spark, it will clean itself up. (Kaboom) So we where told to stay away from a fuel spill, most will evaporate in a short time.

The stain from the fuel spill can be cleaned up the next day with some water and perhaps a little bleach?

Good Luck,

Fred.
