We have a 2010 Rockwood and noticed that the water heater line has a slow leak. We are several miles from a dealer and would like to repair it ourselves. We were told by a repair shop to use a Pex fitting since the fitting is crimped on as an assembly from the factory and hard to get to. Does anyone have any experience in doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pex can also be repaired with Shark Bite fittings found at Lowe's and Home Depot. They do not require a crimper and work well in close quarters.

Get that rubberized tape roll at NAPA and wrap it and tape will merge/blend into a nice rubber wrap patch for a temp. repair.

When working with PEX if you need to bend it or work in tight spaces warm it up a bit. I run hot water trough it for a minute, this greatly reduces the chance of it kinking.

We just redid all the plumbing in our trailer and moved water pipes around (to make more sense and provide more storage space) and we used Shark Bite bought at Home Depot and made the job easy and leak proof.

once upon a time i had a plumber friend he swore by these shark bites always had a bag of them in his service truck.
one of these days i'm going to go pick a bag up and keep it in the TT JIC.
