I am running Vista Home Premium. AVG 9.0 seems to be quite a bit faster than the 8.5. Did have a problem during installation. I E-mailed support, received instrustions that would have worked for XP, but not Vista. Tech went on line with my PC and got it all straight. Had to download a different file that took 2 hours 31 minutes. The 40+ orginal file took 63 minutes to download. I am using a Broadband Air Card.

I have been using AVG for several years. I just switched to the new anti virus that Microsoft offers. It is free and seems to work well.
Microsoft Security Essentials
You might want to give it a try.

You might want to give it a try.
I downloaded the MSE anti-virus program several weeks ago and it is actually pretty good..
But it cannot be programed to turn off the computer after the scheduled scan is completed like AVG can..
I sent an e-mail to MS asking if their Essentials program could be programed to turn off the computer and was told "Not at this time".. but maybe possible in future versions..
For this reason I removed the MSE Essentials program and installed the latest version of AVG..(9.0)
I will wait another year and try the MS Essentials anti-virus program and see if they have programed it to turn off computer after scan.. if so I might go back to it..

I have the 8.5 AVG,
do I just install 9.0 over it
or do I have to uninstall the 8.5?

I'm a clean install kinda guy... 8.5 uninstalls in less then 1 min and your AVG settings are saved (select that option during uninstall). Then install 9.0. With a clean install you are less apt to have issues? (not always the case though) 8-) Once AVG9 is installed your old 8.5 settings are in play there.
