During blinding rains on Friday 10/29 a multi vehicle wreck on the I-65 Tennessee River bridge near Decatur, Alabama took out part of the guard rail and left a truck driver hanging in his cab 150 feet above the river.
The northbound span is now single lane until the repairs are finished. Traffic is backed up to the Priceville exit every morning during rush hour. If you are planning to use I-65 north, be sure to exit at Hanceville or Priceville and go west to US-31 North thru Decatur to AL-20/Alt US-72E and back to I-65.
If you go east at the Hanceville exit you can pick-up US-231 into Huntsville and take in the area museums and some good German food for lunch or dinner. You can then either...
1) Take I-565W back to I-65N just east of Decatur.
-OR-
2) From US-231N take US-72W to AL-53N, which will put you back on I-65N at Tennessee mile 1.
Stay safe out there!
