Propane on for me as well.
I do NOT leave the water heater going, and I do NOT leave the furnace running but I DO leave the fridge on.
For those who worry about the chance of an accident where the propane line can be broken, how do you deal with the whole concept of the gas line in your tow vehicle? I mean,if we really try we can worry ourselves to the point of not leaving the house.

Never needed to have ours on at all. Everything is pre cooled before we leave and we usually stick a few frozen items in the fridge the day before we leave. We have traveled up to 7 hrs in the hot summer and up to 11 hrs in the winter with the fridge off. We usually have to cross bridges which require it off and have to stop for fuel every 2 hrs.(PITA if we had to shut off and restart every fill up) I know ice cream would fail the test. If we had a TV with a larger fuel tank, I probably would leave ours on too.
Don't like the view?? Then change it and Go Camping Our pics

Frozen stuff occasionally gets partially thawed, but everything stays cold enough to be safe. Longer than that, it's propane on.
I do the same except we do not travel with the propane on. It may be safe; but It's just not worth the risk in my opinion. The ice packs will keep it cool enough for up to eight hours. We traveled to Alaska from NC (12,000 mile round trip) and had no problems. We decided what we wanted for lunch each day and took that out of the fridge and put it in a cooler along with our Diet Mt. Dew and that way we did not have to open the fridge at all during the day.
