We have a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie with the 5.7 Hemi, just bought a 2010 Shamrock 23SS, should not be a problem towing............right? I know that this is a "after the fact" question, but my mind told me that everything would be fine. We will also have the Equalizer WDH and a Prodigy brake controller.
I will also set the camper up to pull doubles, I pull my 16' aluminum boat behind the camper, this is legal in South Dakota up to 75' total length. It hase a Reese swaybar between the camper and the boat. The boat and trailer weigh around 1000 pounds.
Last year I pulled the same boat behind the same pickup, but the camper was a Kodiak 195.
Thanks, Arlo

i will say that you'll have no problem with pulling the 23SS with your truck. we have a Avalanche with the 5.3 v-8 and it's fine.
but as to double towing, i can't help you there. i know that the 23SS is a lightweight TT/frame and putting a receiver on the back to pull a boat, may void the warranty if something happens.
some manufacturers say welding a receiver to the frame for a bike rack, will void the warranty, let alone tow a boat with it.

I had a Dodge 5.9 liter engine and it pulled our ROO 236 rather well. The problem was with the transmission. After three years it went out. That seems to be a weak point with them. I can't talk about the 2500 and 3500 series, no experience there.

Certainly no problem with the TRUCK with that towing set up but it's POSSIBLE you could have a problem with the TRAILER if you need to have warranty work done. with MOST small trailers the manufacturer will not allow towing double though the weight in your case is probably not enough to cause much of a problem it WOULD give them an "out" for warranty claims. Good luck / skip

Neither "Laramie" nor "Hemi" are much use in checking your maximum towing capacity. It's not determined by the upholstery, but by the size of the engine, the transmission, and chassis.
How many doors? Regular cab, crew cab, quad cab?
Short bed, long bed?
4x2, 4x4?
3.55 or 3.92 axle?
4.7 or 5.7 V8?
But you can check it yourself at Trailer Boats (not Trailer Life).
