We have an opportunity to purchase a 2 acre lot in Loris that could be used as a seasonal site for our rig. Any pros and cons about the area would be a great help deciding on this lot. Being close to Myrtle beach but not too close is a major attraction but the only town in the area that we know is Conway but that is just a bit "too big city". Thanks in advance for all your opinions.

According to Mapquest, Loris is 34.42 miles and 49 minutes away from Myrtle Beach. That is anything but "close." The only thing Loris is close to is....nothing. If that is what you want, then go for it. It wouldn't be for me. My RV has wheels and it goes to different places. Going to the same place, in the middle of no where, all the time would be boring.

Loris is about 20 miles from Conway and 25 miles from North Myrtle. IMHO North Myrtle is a nicer beach (wider) than MB. As far as getting around in the area, the Carolina Bays Pkwy is only 6 miles SE of Loris and that will let you bypass the traffic in MB all the way to Surfside Beach, if you choose. So you're pretty much out of the heavy traffic, but close to shopping and the beaches. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

Tabor City is near there as well. North of Loris, and a small town.
Only con. It's HOT there in the summer, as hot as MB but with out the ocean, and it stays hot for 4 or 5 months.
Pros. It is near Cherry Grove, a very nice beach. It is also close to Little River, and not so far from Wilmington NC. Lots of good stuff in the area, and a whole lot of nothing.

Thanks Jim Shoe and Terryallen. We don't mind the hot as Long Island is hot and crowded and just hot would be ok as neither of us enjoy cold anymore. We are familiar with the location just not the reputation. I was hoping to find out if it an area we can leave the rig alone for extended periods and still feel warm and fuzzy. If it is a nice enough spot it will get a house built on it for retirement in a few years.
