Nice move but most would not be able to do it. Looks like this guy had alot of $$ to start out with to be cruising around in that sweet rig. He said monthly expenses were $300.00 Vs $2000.00 with the house, so I guess the rig is paid off.

Don't like the view?? Then change it and Go CampingOur pics

I expect he had a ton of equity in the house. I think they were just looking to bail out of the tradition life style based per the article long before. The title leads one to think it may be a negative "times are hard" type story which it is not.

I fully agree. Heck, They are living better in that RV than we are at home.. I guess I am jealous. It looks like so much fun.

Geez...a 41' high-end 5er pulled by a MDT? They couldn't have been too hard up for money!

I have a good friend that sold his paid for home two years ago in Seattle. They moved into their 35' fifthwheel 20 min out of town. His wife still works for an insurance company, and he is self employed handy man always looking for jobs. He says it is such an affordable way to live. The RV has been made very comfortable, and really never moves. They just bought a truck camper so they can get out and see things, as the fifthwheel is kinda set now with pictures and out side planters etc, that it's not easy to get ready to move for a trip. They love their life and I'm happy for them.

I love these sensationalist headlines such as "Man and family reduced to living on the road after losing everything" sometimes actually means "Family has to sell home in Brentwood and hit the road in their $250,000.00 "travel trailer"! It would appear that the term "hitting the road" no longer can bring to mind a bearded tattered clothing "hobo" with all of his life's belongings slug over his shoulder, huh?

$300 / month? And the depreciation on that rig is???????? Fuel????? Repairs / maintenance????? Sounds like he's understating his expenses.

Oh, Boo-Hoo. Ehat a tearjerker. Poor guy has to buy a rig that lots of people could never afford, pack the little women and the love puppies in the back seat and sees America. I wish the "tough economy" would let me do that.

This is jusr another example of how the media frames things to make the story deem more important then it is, to dell papers

If the headline was Dad changes carrer goals, so this family travels the U.S.", no body would care.

This is why on one buys newpapers anymore.
