Never thought of it before but my question is do you keep your inverter on all the time? Had some power fluctuations at a recent CG and I asked a neighbor if he lost 50 Amp like I did that night. He told me he wouldn't really know if it went off and came back on while he was sleeping as his inverter kicks in and all of his clocks keep working. I knew the power was off as several of our clocks were flashing. So is it best to just keep the inverter on?

Your batteries will eventually deplete if the inverter is left on without power. I never leave mine on.

If the inverter doesn't kick in and provide power off the batteries until the shore power or generator is removed how would the batteries run down?

My 600 watt inverter draws about 2 amps in idle (standby) mode. I leave if off except when using it.

In six years, I've never turned mine off. I'm normally connected to shore power at home or while at a rally or in Yuma for the winter. When boondocking, I run the generator twice a day to keep the house batteries charged up.

The inverter should "kick in" as soon as there is a demand for it. I've never cut mine off.

We leave ours on all the time as we are moving down the road and when we are plugged into shore power. We do shut if off when we are boondocking only turning it on when we actually want/need it.

Mine is only on when I need it. It doesn't come on automatically, it's not that fancy. My coach didn't come with one, so I added it. Was a real good buy at Dayton Hamvention, 1000w, and I have it set up for 600w max. It works just fine.

cheers

Rarely ever turn ours on even when I dry camp. Either plugged into pole power or use the generator. The first two years I owned this rig I left it on all the time and burned out a mother board. Had the board replaced and the Xantrex tech told me no sense to have it on unless you are using it, I don't use it!!
