Thought I would give an update on the status of my dog bite from Wednesday. I went to my doctor, who prescribed antibiotics, gave me a tetnus shot and gave me the number to start the series of rabies shots. I contacted them, they told me I needed a referral from my doctor. That is in the process of being done now.

I called the County Animal Control this morning to see if they located the dog. They said the information was not transferred to them, but would send someone out and contact me whether they located the dog or not.

I appreciate everyone's help, suggestions and advice. Have a good day.

You did all the right things. I understand the rabies shots are not nearly as bad as they used to be.
Hopefully they can catch the dog before someone else has to go thru the same thing. Anytime anyone is bitten by an unknown dog, animal control should be notified at once, or even call 911 so that they can get someone out there immediately while you watch where the animal goes.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering how you were. I'm sorry you're going to have to get the injections when you were only trying to help.

I'm really glad you went to a doctor. Also, good that you reported the bite to Animal Control. I looked up rabies incubation period and was surprised that, in humans, it is usually two to three months after exposure, but it can be sooner than that or a lot longer. If you have to do the shots, come back and tell us about it, in case we ever need to go through the same experience. Take care and be well!

Gosh - I would like to think they'd have been notified immediately, when the risk of rabies is hanging over someone..... sheesh!

Hope they find the dog and it's healthy!!!
