I just wanted to say bye to all the people who have helped us on our "family mid-life crisis". Two and a half years ago we sold our house and moved into our signature rig and moved cross country to Monterey, California where I attended the Naval Postgraduate School to get my Graduate Degree.
After lots of research (much of it done here), I have to say our "experiment" was a success. Our girls started out being a small 3 and 5 year old and recently we celebrated their 6 and 8 year old birthdays. In that time they / we have been to over 32 National Parks, covering well over 40 thousand miles in our rig and walking hundreds of miles of trails seeing the most amazing sites and animals.
We just moved into our custom home and unloaded the last of our household goods in storage--but I smile when I look out my window and see our rig parked, prepped, and ready to go on our next adventure.
Our Cedar Creek served us well, and most recently, helped us during the three months we waited for our home to be completed. The very first thing I told our builder was I wanted a private paved site with full hookups at the house. The builder questioned why I wanted it on the side of the house it is at--he pointed out I could easily store it--I told him that even though we are done "full-timing" we will NEVER be done RVing!
Thanks again to all who helped and guided me on our amazing family adventure--it really was a dream come true!

WOW, what a nice story! Obviously you have served this country and we thank you for that and wish you every success in your new adventure. Hopefully, we will see you down the road at some time.
I think sometimes we forget that the freedoms we have are freedoms not because of celebrities. The freedoms are because of ordinary people who did extraordinary things, who loved this country more than life itself.

Let's just say your on hiatus from fulltiming - - the bug will be back to bite you after you kids are grown and out on their own. Once bitten, it is hard to recover.

Oh of that there can be no doubt--I LOVED the lifestyle, people, locations, and freedom full-timing offers. Chances are when I retire (17 years, 6 months, 4 days, and 8 hours from now--but heck, who's counting?), we will go back to at a minimum of part timing for 6 to 9 months out of the year!

We've met other couples who did much like you did. They decided to live in the rv (with up to four kids - home schooled) for a few years while still on active duty. I didn't hear any regrets.
Although we lived in houses while on active duty, we have been rving since 1979, many of those years with our two sons (now married). We took our older granddaughter (now 12) for six months when she was only 3-4, and our other five grandkids also love the rv.
The family time together in the close quarters of the rv and away from the distractions is precious and creates wonderful life-long memories for all of you. Glad you aren't stopping rving.

After a year and half on full-time on the road from Georgia to Alaska and any and every other nook we could find we decided to give it up also. We really had only planned a year before we bought a home again but lasted a little over. This was what memories are made of for sure. We will still travel in our fiver tho! It's only taking a rest like us..
