Best value and cost are on oposite sides. Often, best value has to be measured down the road after many years. Do you want an inexpensive tire that will need to be replaced every 2-3 years or are you willing to pay more for one that will last 5-6 years and not tear up your rig as cheaper tires do as they throw the tread and rip to shreads?

For my money, I run Michelin XPS Ribs.

Some will tell you Michelin. I chose BF Goodrich Commercials for half of the money.

The answer -as you can see- is *not only* the tire (brand) -
but how you view the cost.

I don't "buy" the above comparison - after lots of research, I chose Michelin XPS Ribs.
(The BFs at "Half the money" is not correct)

Lots of posters are happy with Maxxis.

*YOU* have to decide what is right (best) for you -
and "shop" for the best price.

Michelins are NOT the best VALUE if you do not put lots of miles on your rig. There is a difference when it comes to best tire and best value. Michelins are probably the best tire and the best value if you put lots of miles on... but if you are like me, using the 5er less then a dozen times a year, the best valule would be Maxxis. Both of them should be replaced after 5-6 years. Do you want to replace expensive Michelins with lots of tread still left?

Buy any brand with an LT OR ST rating with first line rubber (no used rubber in it). Also get the proper load rating. Cooper is good and reasonably priced.

For an "E" rated tire, "Buy ANY brand"....don't think so, whether it's made with "first line rubber' or not...if it's an ST tire made in China, an "E" rated tire and being put on a 5er weighing more than 10,000#, I'd stay away from, AGAIN, ANY ST TIRE MANUFACTURED IN CHINA. A simple search on this matter will give you all the reading material you'd ever want to know on the subject. Bottom line, sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

Hi. We use Toyo 16 in 10 ply, check tire pressure and then forget em. I will never run a North American made tire again. We have had them for years on everything with no problems. Our logging trucks use them, Michelins are good for pavement only, but don't stand up on dirt roads, check their warrenty.

Because the size tires you are looking for are readily available just about everywhere and made by just about every major manufacturer I’m surprised you even made this posting. You must already have a favorite manufacturer.

Listed below are my choices. Hi $ to Low $.

Michelin XPS Traction LT215/85R16E Service Description 115Q. It’s a quality tire that will last long and take you any where you want to go. Going to cost about $215.00 per tire.

BF Goodrich Commercial T/A all season LT215/85R16E Service Description 115Q. A stout tire built to stand up to heavy loads. About $115.00 per tire.

General Ameritrac TR all season LT215/85R16E Service Description 115S. A great tire for the money. It has a self cleaning design. It’s a true all season radial tire that even has a severe snow service requirement. About $105.00 per tire.
