I have a 2007 Starcraft 2406 and I took it out this past weekend for the second time since i purchased it. Well after reading the owners manual it says to turn the switch to the on position and let the water run from the sink, then when i get a steady stream the pump will turn itself off and only come on when needed. Well that wasnt the case this past weekend. I turned the pump on and let the water run for a little bit while i got a steady stream of water then turned the faucet off but the pump never turned itself off. It ran for probably around 30 minutes until i decided to turn the switch off. I didnt see any leak anywhere in the trailer or outside so i dont know what could be going on. Does it take 30+ minutes for the pump to turn off and build pressure in the line? Please help. Thanks!!

It should turn off in seconds. Do you have a manual valve that has two positions of (like) City Water and Tank Fill? Did you leave it in the Tank Fill position?

Art, the owners manual didnt say anything about a valve but I will check in the next couple of hours to see if I have a valve somewhere. Thanks for the input!

Couple of possibilities. When the check valve is bad in the pressure water connection and you turn on the water pump, it will pump water out through the pressure water connection. this would prevent the pump from shutting off and also empty your water tank as quickly as the pump can pump that much water onto the ground. Another possibility is leaving a low point drain (or drains) open. Same result but water pumped out through the low point drains instead. Another possibility is a leak anywhere ELSE in the water system. All of these would result in pumping water where it should not go. One final possibility is that the pump itself is not pumping correctly and can't pump enough pressure to allow it to shut off. It should take only a few seconds at most.
If you just filled the tank and the water heater was empty it would need to completely FILL the water heater before you'd see the pump shut off and it would also account for very low or zero water pressure while it was filling.

Check the water level in your tank as it may be getting too low and the pump may be getting some air and not able to hold the pressure. You may also want to run the other faucets (if you have them) to purge the air from them. Your pump may hold the pressure then.

I believe the water heater was empty. I am not 100 percent sure but how does this work......? I fill my water tank under my trailer, then when i flip the water pump switch located inside my trailer the pump transfers water from my tank under the trailer into the water heater??? So my pump will run until the water heater fills completely?

Art by the way, i did not find any valve to swithc between water tank and water inlet.

Had the same problem with my 2007 2406. Called Shurflo and they sent out new valves. Installed the new valves, which is pretty easy, and the pump worked fine. The valves are more like diaphrams and they can get a hairline crack and leak pressure. This causes the switch to stay energized, which keeps the pump on.

Just call them, they sent mine out free of charge or postage. Great people!

Then again you could have a leak in the water line somewhere. Best to check for water line leaks first. BTW, it wouldn't take the Hot Water Heater 30 minutes to fill, maybe 5 minutes with the hot water faucet opened. If you didn't fill the hot water tank by opening a hot water faucet to let the air out of the tank, and to allow it to fill with water, then that could be your problem.

This all should be covered in the manual, if you don't have one, call Starcraft and have them send you one.

Good luck and have a good one.

I would guess the water heater was filling or the water heater bypass valves are in the wrong position.

Did you also prime the pump? I have to prime my Shurflo.

Open the valve between the fresh water tank and the pump. There should also be an in-line T that has another valve going to a clear hose, possibly. I have to open the valve to this clear line, use my mouth to draw water up out of the fresh water tank until I see it start to fill this clear tube. I then hold my breath and shut the valve on the clear tubing. This will help get the pump primed. I then turn on the switch to the pump and let it pressurize.

I wouldn't even open up the faucet until I know the pump can build pressure. Then I bleed the air out of lines and know I'm good to go.

Yum...nature is tasty.
