No! I can't see how only delivering mail 5 days a week, instead of 6, would be a big problem for private homeowners. Seems like one of the best ways for the postal service to save money. I'd choose that over increasing the price of postage.
The other option would be to keep Saturday delivery and not deliver to private homeowners on Wednesdays. That way you only ever go one day without delivery and someone picking up your mail. Though, that would make the employees have to work weekends which if I were an employee I would not like.

No, not at all. I think they should close banks on Saturday, too.

Miss Saturday delivery?
No.
I can remember when I was a kid, living in the country, mail delivery was twice a week. It was adequate. There wasn't any junk mail back then, either.
In Hungry Horse, there was no home delivery of mail. We had a P.O. Box, and I picked the mail up on the way home from school. In the summer, I rode my bike the 3/4 mile to the post office to get the mail.
How times (and people) change. Now I drive the Jeep the 1/10th of a mile to get the mail!
The Post Office can go back to twice a week for rural delivery and it wouldn't bother me much at all!

Oddly enough, I still get "good mail."
Besides, how would I get my catalog ordering done if I didn't get those wonderful catalogs?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Yes indeed, it is the catalog season now. The odds are better than 50/50 that we will get yet another JC Penney catalog today.

And if they do eliminate Saturday delivery, we can all expect a 14% reduction in postal rates, right?

The biggest reason I would miss Saturday delivery is Priority Mail.
Sometimes I need to order something on a Thursday and I need it as quickly as possible. It could cost $40 to $50 or more for UPS/Fedex overnight delivery versus maybe $8 for Priority Mail. I spend the time to find someone with the item in stock who can ship USPS.

Absolutely YES! I also still get "good" mail, letters, packages, and stuff from friends and family. I also order many items online that invariably arrive on Saturday. And, as a hobby, I will occasionally sell something on Ebay or Craigslist and like knowing that I can do it on Saturday.
Those darn mis-managed slackers!! My parents always told me that they missed the time when the U.S. Postal service delivered mail TWICE a day, (up until 1950's)! Now they want to eliminate a whole day!

We never seem to get much first class mail on Saturdays, so I wouldn't have a problem with not receiving mail on weekends.
