Hello everyone...this is my first posting. My husband and I are considering selling the brick and stick house and buying a Class A RV to live in full time. The last seven years have been life changing for us. My husband had surgery for prostate cancer, our twenty-six year son (only child) passed away, and my husband sold the business he owned for twenty-eight years. My husband is 61 years old and I am 59 years old. We are both avid hikers, outdoor enthusiasts...and love to hit the road to see what is around the bend. I would love to hear from anyone who chose the full time RV lifestyle after going through some heartbreak. Was it a good choice for you? Thanks...Patti

Howdy!
Sorry to hear about you heart break! Life's short enjoy it while you have you health.
We've been fulltiming three years in January and love every day the good lord give us to do so. We just purchased a Home Base in Livingston TX. but that's not going to stop our travels. We leave for Quartzsite after Thanksgivings.

I went full time because I wanted that lifestyle. If you are trying to fill a void or recover from a heart ache, that is another matter.

Can't say we're there yet, but are looking forward to the day. We're a bit younger than you, but I've had a few health problems that reminded us of our own mortality and pushed us to reorganize our priorities. We put the first house up for sale next spring (we own two) and go from there.
You'll never be any healthier than you are today, and there's no guarranty of a tomorrow. Go for it and you won't be wondering "what if" when health or fate ends the earthly adventure.
PS: Keep us up to date on your journeys. If we can't be out there with you, at least we can live vicariously through you until we can joing you.

Why not just give it a try for as long as you want. If you don't like it you can always go back to your old life.
Here is a great website about a couple that went full time 4 years ago. They go into great detail about the ups and downs and the pro's and con's.
I'm sorry about the loss of your son. This might be healing for you both.

We made the change 2 1/2 years ago. Never been happier or healthier. I still work full time. My wife quit her full time job, now just relaxes. I have 3 more years till retirement. We spend alot more time together. Life is good. Our prayers go out for your son.

I would recommend buying your rig before selling your house and going 'half-time' for a year or two. Keep your house-sale money in the bank(s) for a future purchase. If you never buy another 'stick & brick', you'll have that money to buy a newer RV. Just my humble opinion, of course.

We fulltimed for almost 6 years starting at age 50. We kept our house for an exit strategy and rented it out for income. We have had to stop fulltiming due to DW's mother failing. Don't know if or when we'll get back on the road again but we sure do miss it ((( If the two of you are best friends and patient with each other this may be the best choice you can make. It takes a while to adjust but what a life )))
