Mine never comes off. I agree with the advice to buy a new handle, or go with a redneck handle - a pair of Vise-Grip pliers permanently clamped to the shaft.

Exactly what I was going to suggest, as I fit the "been there, done that" saying on this.

Mine was a result of forgetting to put the antenna down on one of my earlier trips. Ended up breaking a few pieces in the elevating mechanism. In disassembling the crank/rotating assembly inside the trailer, I backed off the set screw. When I reassembled it, I didn't get it tight. This allowed the crank to "slip" on the shaft the first time I attempted to raise the antenna. The slippage rounded off the teeth on the crank, and was never right after that.

Used the vise-grips for 2 summers, and didn't repair until I traded the trailer in this fall.

don't think I've had the problem in a lot of years of RVing so I'm GUESSING that your handle turns pretty hard. Get up there and lubricate your antennae to solve the problem.

Remove screw.. Holding handle in place take a small drill and insert in the hole.. Tap the switch to just mark the shaft of the antenna (on the flat please)

now remove handle and switching to a larger drill (The proper drill for the screw) drill shaft

Tap shaft

Insert screw all the way into the shaft... Locktite GREEN please on the threads

On mine the original equipment was totally plastic. The replacement has a metal sleeve that grabs the shaft. Problem solved.

As suggested a little Locktite or Liquid Nails on the screw. A dab of the DW's nail polish will do too.
