That was an interesting situation. I went to that women's facebook page, and I may be off base here, but she strikes me as a bit 'high maintenance'. Her main picture on the facebook page is a side profile of her in a long elegant dress, but something is terribly wrong. It doesn't look nice, some things seem a little low...

There are also a couple of pictures of her at the event. One with her husband and one with the VP. But when you click on the pictures to enlarge them they both come up as the picture with the VP. Poor husband gets no play.

Seems they are now blaming somebody in uniform at the 1st checkpoint. This person supposedly thought they were checking again at other checkpoints.

I guess there was one too many security "openings" already.

And BTW, no one ever gets fired from a security position at the White House. They just end-up "missing".

Can you believe they are now going to charge them with some kind of crime. All they did was attend a party that they helped pay for and how is that a crime? If anything they did the president and the country a favor by pointing out how poor the Secret Service is protecting the President. They ought to give them a medal.

But instead they will probably reassign the responsible agent to the witness protection program.

This is the law that put Martha Stewart in prison. I'd guess it might apply in this case as well:

Quote:

Title 18 USC Section 1001:

(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, whoever, in any matter within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of the Government of the United States, knowingly and
willfully--

(1) falsifies, conceals, or covers up by any trick, scheme, or device a material fact;

(2) makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent
statement or representation; or

(3) makes or uses any false writing or document knowing the same to contain any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry;

shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.

Yup, lying to a Federal Agent is a felony and you can get up to five years. There is even a case on the books where a subject was convicted of this section when an FBI Agent asked him if he committed a crime and he said no. When it was shown he did commit the crime he got the extra penalty for lying to a Federal Agent. On appeal his attorney's tried to argue that he had a 5th Amendment right not to confess to the FBI. The Appelate court ruled that was true and what he should have done was remain silent. But by saying "no" he lied to a Federal Agent.

If these two lied in any way to get in the Whitehouse then they violated this section. However, in my opinion the Secret Service should cut their losses and let this one go and change their practices so it doesn't happen again.
