I just ordered a 20v lithium ion 3 piece combo set from Sears. The drill produces 500 in/lbs and it has metal gears. It comes with a 7-1/4" circular saw and an LED light, 2 batteries and a charger for $199.

It's not so much the voltage as it is the (low) gearing. My 18v DeWalt has 3 speeds, including a low speed - high torque. It can mess up your wrist if you're not carefull. I'm surprised the 500 in-lb drill listed above is at it's limits. I recall mine being listed about 450 in-lb.

I tried both a dewalt 18v and craftsman 19.2v on my Fleetwood E4 and neither would move the roof. I finally got a used 1/2 corded drill with a low speed and that can raise the E4 roof.

I did the same with my Starcraft 2409 - 14 foot roof with AC , tried the Craftsman with the 450 in lbs of torque, and also the DeWalt XRP 18 volt, neither one would lift my roof anymore than halfway. I finally gave up and kept the hand crank.

I have a smaller Viking 1906st (8'), no air conditioner. Once I find a cordless hammer drill, 18v, what do I need for attachments? I want to raise the roof (Goshen lift system) and lower the stabs.

"Can tell you. Viking recommended a 24 volt DeWalt hammer drill, of course with the hammer turned off, 450 inch pounds of torque. It worked. Not sure any thing less would. However, after 8 years. The battery died, and now needs to be replaced."
A more inexpensive to replace worn out batteries for a cordless drill is the Battery Barn. They will replace an 14v battery for $30.00 with the premium cells. If you don't have one in your area, the Battery Barn of Virginia is running free shipping for orders over $35.00 and it only takes one to two days to get your batteries fixed. Just search Battery Barn on google or Battery Barn Virginia and its a snap to find.

I have been raising the roof, lowering the stabilizers, and lifting/lowering the BAL leveler of my 12' Fleetwood GTE Niagara for the past two years using a Craftsman C3 19.2 volt DieHard Cordless Drill/Driver. I purchased the set, (with the flashlight and a nice case) in 2007 for $69 on sale. It works great! The NiCad batteries work perfectly fine, (no need for the lithium versions). You MUST use the handle as the torque, (especially when using the BAL leveler), will spin the drill and damage the body panels if you don't maintain a tight grip.
I liked the performance so much that I have also purchased an extra NiCad battery, the C3 Radio for camping and outdoor use, and the C3 Pad Sander for some projects where I needed a compact cordless unit. All very good!
