I spoke with FTCA this morning and was told they produce roofs weekly for new vehicles or warranty issues as the orders are placed (I was told if a dealer places a roof order it should be to the dealer in 8 weeks), that there is no down time/slow down. Also, some of us had a claim earlier in the year, not starting now. My dealer told me I may not get a roof until sometime (unknown time) next year, the manufacturer tells me the dealer should get it in 8 weeks from time of order. I don't know, but my dealer won't even order a roof until I "pre-pay" a "deposit" of $1800 (at least $200 over the cost of freight, which is what I owe), without a total cost to me until the warranty work is completed.
I was told by another dealer that the roof replacement is a five hour job that the manufacturer pays three, but that a dealer takes that hit as a dealer because they make their profit on the sale. So, it appears a roof replacement might cost the dealership <$100. Warranty work is not supposed to provide the dealer additional profit (per the other dealer).

Ace,
I think you dealer is trying to rip you off big time. The warranty states the following:
"It is the consumer's responsibility to pay all expenses incurred in obtaining warranty performance other than those specifically provided in this Warranty."
In other words you'll have to pay the freight and FTCA takes care of the parts and labor.
Later on they go on to state:
Only authorize Fleetwood folding trailer dealers may perform warranty obligations. The authorized Fleetwood folding trailer dealer will advise the the warranty performance has been completed. All payments for warranty service and parts will be made by Fleetwood to the dealer and not to the consumer.
In other words you know that parts and labor are covered by FTCA and you will not be able to get a refund for any fraudulent dealer up charges.
My 2 cents

Hummer H2 - Black (DW vetoed the Yellow one, but I got two Yellow Hummer Folding Mountain bikes )

I know Ruide. I explained the wording to the warranty specialist and to the manager and they state they charge a 30% mark up and the manufacturer won't pay it so the customer does. I've been told I can go somewhere else. When I protested I was told there is a "bill" that states a dealer gets 30%. I don't want to go to much into it, but I had to "school" the dealership in the difference between a legislative bill, a state statutue, etc. Although they tried to quote only a portion of the bill (which was at least a couple years old), I found that it had indeed passed, become law/statute and explained to them what that statute actually said. It did NOT state that the customer would be required to pay 30%. They refuse to acknowledge the meaning of the statute and stand behind the portion of the "bill" that they quote (even though the bill is not statute and is mis-quoted out of context).
I called another dealer yesterday. Problem is a 300+ mile round trip to one, out of state or a 500 mile round trip in state. If I go out of state I owe sales tax which we do not have here in Oregon. My dealer is to call me tomorrow with a yes or no on the mark up. If it's no I'll go elsewhere regardless of cost (fuel, tax, whatever).
I've also been advised to obtain customer information regarding the charging of the 30% by this dealer as it's not owed by the customer and could be re-couped, along with "fees" and possibly loss of use. I'm not trying to get too detailed as I don't know if "legal" issues should not be discussed. If this part of the post is inappropriate for the forum, Admin please delete it if you can as opposed to locking the thread.
It appears I'll have a clear understanding of what I need to do to get the PUP repaired very soon, after several months of "fighting" with my dealer.

Ace,
Got it, I'm with you, and I wish you all the best. One thing I see is I can find the link to a cartoon that explains the process whereby law is formed. It might be a nice gift for your dealer.
Take care and again all the best.
Ruide
PS Yes I found the video with the federal process and a flow chart with the state process. Hope it helps and I'm sharing it here as it may be entertaining to others. I'll send by PM two other docs specific to Oregon.

Spoke to the dealer today. I'm taking it out on Saturday to get some photos taken and get the claim started. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Ace, have you contacted BBB? Also, does your nearest newspaper or TV station have consumers advocate? Perhaps they would be interested in learning of this dealer's practices. Go elsewhere, but don't let them get away with this crap.

Looks like they are going forward with the Warranty Replacement. I had a water pump failure and they thought they could warranty that as well, but it was out of the warranty period. I'm going to pick up the trailer on Saturday, so should have more info then.

The roof rack is held on with screws. I started to have a leak and tightened the screws. Some were loose. I'm sure that's where the water was coming.
