Hi: First time going south for extended time in MH. What is the best and cheapest way to get internet service while camped and while travelling. We would like something we can use while driving. We have Bell Expressvue at home.

The Verizon AirCard/modem is likely your best bet. Excellent nationwide coverage. $60/month. You can suspend service during the months you will not be in the US then turn the service on again when you need it.
Can be used while you are driving.

Don't know how much data you plan on using but Verizon just put a new plan into place for Prepaid Wireless Broadband. To use these new prepackaged bits, you'll of course need to buy the Verizon Wireless USB760 modem for $129.99. You're then given the choice of three data bucket plans:
Daily: $15 for 75 MB (20 cents / additional MB)
•Weekly: $30 for 250 MB (12 cents / additional MB)
•Monthly: $50 for 500 MB (10 cents / additional MB)
It is not very much data but for email and a little browsing it should be OK. You would have to keep track of data usage and turn off windows update auto downloading.
AT&T also anounced the same: Their's is called AT&T DataConnect Pass. Same rates, no illusion of competition here. One difference in the plans is that Verizon's prepaid passes charge you overages should you cross the cap (20. 12, 10 cents per MB, respectively). AT&T's system doesn't involve overages. According to AT&T, users will get an automated alert once they reach either 30 minutes or 20 percent of allotted data usage remaining in their session, at which time you'll have to buy more time/data. Keep in mind these plans expire, so if you buy the 30 day plan -- you'd best use the available bandwidth within thirty days.
With AT&T you can use your exisitng equipment and just get a new SIM card. You'll need the IMEI equimnet serial number for your equipment. Their signup site is AT&T Data Connect Pass
There may be other plans out there that don't require a two year contract.

We use a Verizon "MIFI". Cost $60.00 a month for 5 GB of data which if you don't down load movies or use Skipe will be plenty. I think you can suspend use when not in country. But does have a 2 year contract. When your coverage is suspended they will extend your contract until 2 yrs. are paid for, then it's month to month. MIFI sets up a 500 ft. radius broadband WIFI spot that up to 5 computers can use simultaneously that is secure provided they have the proper pass word. Good coverage around the US but make sure there is coverage where you will be. I have not experienced loss of coverage yet in the places we have traveled. The device is a little pricey if you are buying outright but with a new contract they are discounted quite a bit. I have also used a USB port air card with good success but could only have one computer connected at a time and the DW would get upset when I was on line and she also wanted to connect, now we both can! The OP is Canadian and a normal cell phone/data plan may not be available. Some carriers require a USA social insurance #.

Went through something similar last summer traveling mostly through the US from Halifax NS to Victoria BC.. I couldn't find anything reasonable that would work without aggravation. At the time I found a couple plans but I had to sign up for a year long contract and there were still gonna be a lot of blackout areas. I was only spending about one month in the US during the trip.
So I didn't get any plan. Every campground we stayed at had wi-fi though. That worked pretty well in most places and great in others. Only one campground we had to pay a small fee, all the rest were free.
