My wife was born in Denmark.
She has become a naturalized citizen and has her own Golden Age Pass.
The naturalization process was not easy but if you want to live permanently in the US it's a good idea.

If she had said she was a US citizen and just shown her drivers lic. would they have given it to her?

okay getting OT here - but our neighbor is also Canadian born - served in the US Military, disabled Vietnam Vet on VA insurance - married w/kids - worked all his life & paid US taxes, now retired and on Soc. Security - although STILL a citizen of Canada ... decided to take the 5er up to visit aging relatives this summer {first time post 9/11} -- so I was asking them if they already had their passports to get back acros the border since they were planning to leave in a couple of weeks!!

hmmm good thing I asked -- not only could the wife NOT even get an "accepted Driver's License" in less than 2wks - BUT his GREEN CARD wouldn't even have allowed him back into the US anymore!! so what has this to do with senior discounts and Golden Age/Interagency Passes - well its appears that HE isn't eligible for one of those either

whether this is right or wrong is not for me to say {and why he has chosen NOT to become a US citizen after all these years, I can only speculate that it has something to do with medical coverage -- however having no wish to start a flame/turf fuss on TC ... it might be he has fears of losing his US medical benefits in his SENIOR YEARS}

there are certainly no easy answers in trying to balance burgeoning budgets ... but IF collecting 40% MORE FEES FROM SENIORS {currently 50% minus the proposed 10%} is going to generate that much more money AND make that much difference in being able to keep CGs open for EVERYONE to enjoy -- then I suppose we'll just have to start staying at least one night less ... OR look for other ways to save

on the flip side - maybe the ONLY way to collect ENOUGH additional revenue to keep them going is as Eugarps suggested = increase the fees for EVERYONE {regardless of age OR ability to pay}

and for anyone who hasn't already noticed - MANY of the FEDERAL CGs have indeed been increasing their rates for the past few years ...

as always hope to see y'all out there on the road sometime --
