We're getting so sloppy now I see the $5 bucks thing in TV ads. Don't copy writers go to school anymore?

Forgive me. This is a real stretch for the topic, but it is "words," and it does fry my brain. "Due to unusually heavy call volume, you may experience a longer wait."
Some businesses ALWAYS play this message when you call in. I think what it really is saying is, one of our CS people called in sick, so the other one is really, really busy!
And if I may have one more along these lines, "Please listen, as our options have changed." Oh yeah? Ten years ago, maybe!

yeah, like we knew...how about the heavily accented announcement;"may be recorded for training porpoises"...I didn't know that either.

Valentimes day. ARGGGGG!!!!
Tengo (internet) is NOT TANGO. My GF insists on pronouncing it this way, and no amount of joking will stop her. Evidently it's designed to drive me crazy.

"UH" "UMM" "Y'know" "like" etc.
I was listening to NPR the other day. I always thought Warren Olney was the KING of "UH" until I heard the college professor he was interviewing. It seemed like every other word was "UH" or "UMM". "It, uh, seems, uh, that, well, uh, I don't, uh, know...."!
These are supposedly people who get paid for talking! Paid quite well, too, I imagine!
SAD, that's all, just SAD!

"Wrot Copper Fittings"
What has Grainger's Catalog proof reader "wrought"? Grainger Catalog #402, p.4021
I have seen the same "wrot" spelling when Googling "wrot fittings"
but I suspect it's an "error" that's becoming part of the English Language--something like the improvised word, "conversate".
Edit: added last paragraph.

" I stand and stare in aw at their beauty."
Does that mean they make you say "awwww" when you see them?
