I just noticed on our local Craigs List that there is an automotive shop that purchased several new Master tow dollies from a business that was closing. They are advertising the ones with electric brakes for $1100. What other questions should I ask? I will be towing a 2007 Yaris which weighs about 2700 lbs behind a 2011 Jayco Greyhawk 26DS.

Master Tow is not an expensive dolly to begin with. However, if you like the price, I'd be sure they came with a manufacturer's warranty, especially for the braking system.

Don't get me wrong -- they're of good quality, but certainly not a Demco.

If you are too paranoid to accept a good deal when one is presented, there are others who will jump at the chance!
Do the same as you would for any other trailer; Check the frame for bends and cracks, check the tires, jack it up and spin the wheels by hand. Feel for roughness and noise. Activate the emergency brake and be sure it nearly locks the wheels. Tow it and make sure it tracks right behind the tow vehicle. Check the lights for operation.
If everything is good, buy it!

I "assume" that the Yaris can be towed on a dolly?

If you need a dolly, that's a good deal. Check the weight rating - usually 3500 lbs, which is the weight on the dolly, not the total weight of the car. Electric brakes are a great option.

That price sounds about right for a good deal , not a great deal. Master tow makes 2 models one is 80 inches wide and the other is 88 inches wide. I priced a model 88 with surge brakes for $1495 so check the width of the unit before you buy then check the tread width of the vehicle you intend to carry.

Thanks. Also, with electric brakes, does that mean I need to install a brake controller in the Greyhawk?
