The water pressure on the hot side has decreased since eliminating the mixing valve on a Atwood water heater Any thoughts on how to increase the hot side pressure ?

Never heard of a "mixing valve" on a hot water heater. Are you talking about the water heater bypass valve?
And sometimes the check valve in the water heater line gets clogged or goes bad.

I HOPE you changed the tstat when you removed the mixing valve. The TEMP of the Atwood XT is about 165 to 170 WITHOUT the mixing valve installed. The normal temp of an Atwood is 140. Doug

In theory this all sounds like a good idea but there have been lots of problems with the mixing valve.

The superheating of the tank water allows Atwood to specifie a 10 gallon hot water tank using an actual 6 gallon size. The mixing valve mixes cold with hot water to get a "normal" hot water temperature at the faucets. Mixing valves sometimes leak or just fail to mix water properly and are replaced. If you eliminate the mixing valve you change the design operation of the hot water tank. You cannot eliminate it and it must be replaced to operate the water tank as designed.

The 6 gallon Atwood produces 9 gallons of Hot water by superheating the 6 gallons and then mixing with cold to produce the 9 gallons of 140 degree water
The 10 gallon does the same thing but produces 16 gallons of 140 degree water
The mixing valves are prone to fail with high mineral content water supplies. Doug

If you read my previous posts you will find that I removed the mixing valve due to it clogging after winterization . I ran hot and cold straight out of each. This works with a single adjusting valve in shower just watch how hot you turn it.And no more hot/cold temp changes in the shower or sink. Thought mixing valve was defective but they (Atwood ) wouldn't replace wanted owner to fork over $245 + shipping for it. Junk part thru in trash.

On the Atwood XT the above posts give a good explanation of how the mixer valve works. These mixing valves get clogged very easily and need replaced. From other posts on this topic on the forum, I understand people have replaced the Atwood valve with one from Home Depot or Lowes, and that it is not as expensive and better quality. If you do not replace it, be very careful if you ever have young kids in your rv because the hot water could scald them.
