Maybe you should ask them if they did the recall for the cruise control.Who's responsibility is it to check on recalls for a vehicle that they own.

In my opinion when a dealer takes in a vehicle for resale he/she should check all systems which includes recalls.

We bought our 2005 Georgie Boy in 2009. I found out about the dometic fridge recall on this site. I had to call Ford corp about a part and they had the rv still in the previous owners name. They updated the information so that they could send me any recall notices.

Refrigerators and diesel engines are to the two primary causes of fires in RVs.
And they are preventable by installing an auto fire extinquisher behind the
refer and in the engine compartment.

If the coach was connected to shore power, it was most likely running on electric.

It was connected to shore power in the campground. We watched the wrecker pull it out this week. GEICO having it sent to Atlanta for further investigation regarding cause of fire...recalls etc. They settled with the owner who decided to take the money, pay it off and not purchase another. They are now living in an apartment.

It sad to see someone give up the RV lifestyle with something like this happening. As far as the cause of the fire, most fire departments are not trained or equipped to determine the cause of a fire when it starts around the refrigerator or the engine compartment. It takes a person who specializes in this area to make an accurate determination.

History has shown that the refrigerator fires can start when on electricity or on propane, because the cause is from the coils located on the refrigerator and not the method of heating them. An extinguishing system such as available for the marine industry will likely extinguish a fire if it starts behind a refrigerator, but may not help in the engine compartment due to the openness of the engine space.

Also, having been in the fire service and the safety and health field for nearly 40 years, there is "NO" pet out there worth going into an RV to save when it is on fire. Too many people have tried to save their pets only to come out of the house later in a body bag. And like someone said, if you can see a live person, don't hesitate to help, but if you can not see them, do not enter. Motorhomes or other types of RV's can be very nice, but they burn as almost fueled by gasoline with the type of contents that they are made of.

Lastly, make sure you know how to open your escape windows and have a plan where to meet if you should have a fire. Escaping out the window of a RV is not easy.
