Cool place if you come in off the #395 to Twenty Mule Team and stage to your right a few miles down you won't need to buy a Cal-City Pass. http://www.jawbone.org/foj/index.php?opt........m_content&view=category&id=42&Itemid=144
You may ride into Ransburg it's a cool town ride slow don't do any wheelies on main street. Don't get hammered in the bar and hoop into you Side by Side,Rino, quad,UTV or dirtbike. http://www.desertusa.com/magfeb98/Randsburg/Ran.html

So how was Cal City over Easter? Crowded? I love that place and consider it my home desert. Born and raised in So. Cal I grew up riding there. Now me and my buddies all go there with the "second generation" in tow to show them the Cal City ropes (hope you got in a Randsburg run). It's a great place to have large family camp and ride groups go to. Heck, I still even make it down to Cal City for Thanksgiving although it's a much longer (12+ hour drive) drive now. Although the amount of people that go there on the holidays now just blows my mind, it becomes a city of toyhaulers over Thanksgiving holiday. It's all good until a wind storm rolls though, but that's the So. Cal desert for you, hope you had fun.

Had a great time our friends that suggested this know of a place way in the back, they called it "camp C" and it was completly empty back there, the closest group was 2 miles away,we only saw about 3 other small groups ride through,I think all the crouds are up at the front,.My little ones had a blast,we will be going back there in the future!!

Camp C and B are out a ways so you guys weren't in the thick of it. Most of the crowds will be a bit closer in towards the prison and the bathroom/ showers/ Police/ Medical area (your Cal City sticker fees at work). Go out there over Thanksgiving Holiday, New Years, and sometimes President's Day holidays and you'll be shocked at how many people are out there. The population of Cal City probably doubles over the Thanksgiving and New Year's holidays. It gets kind of scary because there are so many folks rippin' around the trails. An if you ride out to Randsburg, that entire little mining town in the hills will be over run with bikes and atv's.
It's a great area for the kids though, easy terrain for them to rip around on and plenty of riding space. We typically are one of those groups of 15+ motorhomes and trailers you'll see circled around in the middle of nowhere. We find on the big holiday weekends a big roll of construction/ police line ribbon is a must to "rope" off riding areas for the little guys to stay within and also to keep other riders from blasting through and possibly hitting someone.
With the Cal City Sticker fees the city has even created an atv trail that allows you to ride into the city area for food and drink, although you still need to be "respectable" around town or risk a ticket even though it's sanctioned. Good times out there for sure. I wish I still lived in So Cal for the Cal City family fun with my good friends. Glad to hear it wasn't crazy crowded over Easter weekend.

It's just the luck of the draw. Meaning sometimes is and sometimes it's not. You can always ride right across the way at Fremount Peak too!
