A couple of years ago we went to Canon City, Co for a week. There are lot's of things to do there, and most of the attractions allow pets. We were able to take our dogs into the Royal Gorge park and the souvenir shops near the campground allowed the dogs inside. The best, however was a park called Buckskin Joe's. It was a collection of old buildings set-up as an old time town. Some of the buildings were in use; one was a candy store and there was a restaurant. The dogs were allowed everywhere, even the restaurant! They offered the dogs bowls of water at the candy store and while we ate at the restaurant. They were also allowed on the wagon ride and the train ride. It was so neat to be able to actually DO something fun with the dogs. They seemed to really enjoy it, although Callie may have been a little too interested in the penned turkeys! I wanted to go again this year, but sadly, found it closed last fall.

Is there anywhere else like this anywhere?

Key West, FL, but expensive to RV there. Think $100+ a night.

Fort DeSoto, Florida. Great campground...section just for campers with dogs. Has a dog beach, restaurant in town that allows dogs to eat at, sidewalks outside campground to walk on. Old fort you can walk around in with your dogs. Just spent 5 days at this place and the first thing I noticed....no rule saying you can't leave dogs unattended in RV...everyone has a dog in this section. The sites are great. Make reservations ahead of schedule.

Canon City is still open as is Buckskin Joes. Their website is up with a renewal 2012 and they're accepting reservations. $28 a night CanonCity. Perhaps you were too late in the season last fall?
