A 40 lb LP tank holds 9.43 gallons of propane. In Phoenix last month it was selling for around $3 a gallon.

I need to fill my cylinders tomorrow. I'll let you know what the cost per gallon is here in Billings.

Filled up 2 20-pounders two days ago. These guys used to be the best price around, but I think I got screwed this time. $44.84 out the door. Wow. Won't be going back there again.

Spring is coming, so the volume of sales will be going down. The propane Co. at my Doghouse said they had charged $2.40 for most of the winter. They dropped the price to $2.19 a week or 2 ago.

That is bulk price delivered, however. Don't know what the pricing difference is for small bottles. They tend to charge more for filling the smaller bottles, that have to be weighed. I'm going to be needing 100 gallons to get back to full this spring... OUCH! But then again It's been over 2 years since I topped off.

In or town one place gets a little over $15.00 for 20lb, right down the road it's $19.99 for same thing. Kinda like gasoline.
