I wouldn't listen to those claiming to have a "sweet spot" especially if it 65 or over. I think that's a myth. As long as the engine isn't "lugging" you can drive slower if you like and if the speed is too slow for the engine to like, it will downshift if an auto trans. The slower you go the better MPG you will get as long as you aren't so slow that the trans shifts into a gear lower than your top gear.

Yippee! I'm going to follow you and you can make a path through all these retired grandpas!

Seriously - I try to be a courteous driver but I don't have the patience to stay behind someone going 10 to 15 mph below the speed limit, and it is especially annoying on a 2-lane road.

I'm not retired, I don't have all day, I'm not out to save fuel, and if you elect to drag everyone down to your speed just because you can, then know I'll be coming around on the left and at some point I am most likely trading off safety of both of us for a chance to pass if you don't pull over at some point and let me through.

There are a number of States that limit trailer towing to 55 MPH on all State highways; even if the posted limit is higher. Check the state trailer towing laws for GA, MI, CA, ME, MS, and several others..... I don't think this applies to Interstate Highways.

BTW, I usually tow around 60 MPH +/-

55 Mph towing applies in Ca. on interstate highways.

Don't forget that, in most states, there is probably a statute on the books that =requires= a driver to pull over if more than X cars are stacked up behind them and they are traveling below posted speed limits (or prudent speed for the conditions). In AZ it was 5 vehicles, last time I looked. Almost never observed (I do when I can) and virtually never enforced, though I'm sure that with cell phones being so ubiquitous these days, there are a lot of people not afraid to call the local LEOs to complain. ;-)

Actually, it is everywhere in CA. No more than 55 while towing anywhere.

60mph tops. I like the safer speed, and enjoy the view.

Well, I disagree with you. If you know your torque curve for you particular TV, you can frequently get the best mileage running the rpm for the highest torque. For my Dmax, that's just above 2,000 rpm. That works out to be just about 63 for me. I've experimented with long runs and I always get pretty good mpg running about 63.

Just my 2 cents.
