I wanted to brag about Dutchmen and Richardson's RV in CA. I ordered a Dutchmen Voltage 3600 (5th wheel toyhauler) to full-time in. Dutchmen and Richardson's took my order, got some clarification from me, and built a beautiful Toyhauler for me to full time in.

I am an above-knee amputee, and asked for grab bars in the shower of the RV. Dutchmen responded beautifully, and I ended up with 2 grab bars in the shower, one on each set of stairs to the bed and bathrooms, and one on the inside of each exterior door.

Gary Alexander was the salesman I dealt with through RV Express/Richardson's RV, and he was phenomenal as well. He would call anytime that the factory had questions about what my desires were.

Thanks for sharing. It's nice to see compliments rather than complaints about a dealer.

Nice to hear you can still get some special assistance, at least you know they listened. I'm also an AK.

It's good to hear that they built it to suit you. Many manufactures will not or can not deviate from their standard plans. I'm assuming that they put extra bracing in the walls for a strong installation of the grab bars.

Have a good time with your fulltiming adventure!

I'm not certain how they did it, although I imagine it was with the extra bracing like you mentioned. I know that I told both Gary and the walk through guy that I intended to make the bars support my entire weight before I accepted it.

And yes, I was glad that they would deviate from their usual design to help me out. It has made me quite a loyal customer, and I wanted folks to know about it.

I will google them and check them out. My husband is a below knee amputee so needs a wheel chair lift and accessable interior, especially the bathroom. He is a new amputee and even after learning to walk with the prosthesis, he'll still need the wheelchair at times. We are in the market to buy a Class A and plan to be fulltiming by this time next year (2013). Its hard to find wheel chair friendly Class A RVs.

Selling our house and shopping Class A's. Asking tons of questions, planning to Full Time as soon as the house sells. Me, Hubby and our doggie children Molly, Daisy Mae and Henry.

I'm glad it worked out for you as we had a not so favorable experience with Gary and Richardson's RV. Maybe they stepped up their game.

YAY!!! Finally a "happy camper" in CA.
So happy for you that they were able to make you happy. I was born&raised in CA and I get so bummed when people talk bad about us all the time.

I was born in Monterey, well Ft. Ord, but was in Monterey. That is one of my RV full-timing travel goals: to visit Monterey to see where I was born. We were only there for a year after I was born so I don't remember anything. I think Ft. Ord is completely gone now.
