In February I was looking over our 10 year old Sunline getting it ready for another camping summer. Unfortunately I discovered a soft spot about a foot in diameter in the left rear corner of the roof. It has the original roof material (EPDM) that has been cleaned twice a year and looked to be in good shape. I have kept up on the sealant around all the seams but water still got under it. Thought about just trading it in or selling outright, having a dealer replace the damage and the roof membrane, than I happened to mention the issue on our owner's forum. I found out from a fellow member that had his roof repaired by an independent repair shop. I called him up, made arraingments to tow the fiver to his shop, and brought it up. I also asked him to replace the 21' Dometic awning fabric and gearbox. Last weekend I went to pick it up and could not be happier. He had repaired the damage, installed 1/2" plywood the entire length, installed the new membrane, an improved material over the old type, resealed everything and did the awning work as requested. The trailer looks great, extremely happy with the work he did. Much better than the way the factory installed the roof, no more areas for water to puddle. I have a water tight roof I can now walk on, the awning works like it should and he charged me a very fair price. If you live in the Northern area of Virginia, West Virginia or Maryland and need work performed on your rv, I now know a great independent skilled craftsman in the area. I towed the trailer 160 miles from my house to his shop, it was well worth the trip. PM me if you are in need of work. Just happy to share, I ain't getting no kickbacks.

What problem could there possibly be with posting the name of the company here?

This forum is sponsored by, paid for by companies that provide this type of service. I just did not think it was essential to post his name since he is an independent business in a local area. People in the same boat as me in my neck of the woods have already PM'd me for information.

The man in question, is happy to get work and takes great pride in his workmanship. He is not a "Company" and does no advertising. All his business comes from word-of-mouth and he is quite busy.
It probably wouldn't hurt to post his name in the forums, but he should probably be asked if it is okay first....

Thats awesome! I have to replace my roof in the next year or two as well. Not looking forward to it, but its either replace the roof or replace the trailer. I was thinking about doing it myself though Probably too much for the average joe, but, I am just now in research mode.
Thanks!

If you are happy with work done on your 5th wheel, I see no reason why you cannot tell us who did it.

I have my TT at a small shop in Lynnwood Wa. called "Ollies" that does the same kind of word-of-mouth business. I'll be reporting back here on how well they do.

Replacing the roof rubber membrane is no brainer. Pretty straight forward. The problem comes when you are trying to do the job yourself, or there is repair to be made to the roof rafters or the sidewalls damaged by water intrusion. Having a covered location with scaffolding is a real big help for sure.
