Hello all, any suggestion on a campground near to Richmond Va? Thinking about camping there for two weeks in June. I'll be working in Richmond so a nice campground (with electric, water, and sewer) nearby would be great. Will probably take family with.
Thanks in advance, Gary

You have Kings Dominion Campground up in Doswell.. Thats about 30 minutes north and just below Doswell is AmeriCamps ....Both are right off the highway and easy to get to... We have stayed at both as an overnight stop when traveling and both are nice. My first choice would be Kings Dominion.... Joe

The KOA/Americamps has been updated recently and is a good CG albeit close to the interstate with some road noise. There is also a place on Rt 1 near KOA called Kosmo Village...not much in the way of amenities but has full hookups...its also close to Rt 1 with some road noise. Never stayed at Kings Dominion so my first choice is KOA. We stay there several times a year while visiting our DD in Richmond. There is not much else until you get south of Richmond near Chester. Pocahantas State Park has some nice sites but none with sewer. Again, I would stay at KOA if I were working in Richmond.

Anvil Camp Ground. Swim pool, clubs welcome. CAMPGROUND with level shaded grassy sites. From I-64 (Colonial Williamsburg Camp Peary exit 238) and Hwy 143: Go 1 block S on Hwy 143, then 1 1/4 mi NW on Rochambeau Dr (Hwy F-137), then 2 mi SW on Hwy 645, then 1/2 mi S on Hwy 603. Entrance on right.
I've no house in the city, just a camping tent in the wild.

Unfortunately in our area the closest campground is Pocahontas and once again it is only electric/water. You have the choices given above in the Ashland area which are about a half an hour north of Richmond depending on where you're working and on the western side in Powhatan there is a campground called Cozy Acres that is a half an hour west.
