I have 2 young kids and my 08 Keystone Sprinter TT sits up relatively high (3 steps to get it/out). I've notice that even for me the steps can be tricky upon exit, so I've considered installing a larger, folding hand rail, similar to the Lend-A-Hand folding hand rail sold by CW: Lend-A-Hand folding RV hand rail (can't post pic).
I'm unsure about the installation. I assume the brackets simply screw into the side of the TT, near the door, but I'm not sure what's behind the fiberglass and want to be sure I'm firmly securing the handle into something solid. If I screw next to the door frame (in the same line as the current small door handle), am I reasonably assured I'll hit something solid behind the fiberglass? My "worst" fear is that someone slips, graps the larger handle and rips it off.

I have had good luck finding a stud with my electronic stud finder....I did not think it would work with aluminum frame work but it did.....

All that I have seen installed have done exactly that. Place it right up against the door frame, flat against the fiberglass. When you go to drive the screws in, just angle towards the door slightly to make sure you get something solid.

I have a switch on the wall just inside the door, I removed that and looked inside the wall. Sure enough, there was a stud running the full height of the door. My existing grab handle was mounted to this already. I left that in place, and marked the laceration for the new larger handle. Drilled my pilot holes, just to be sure there was some structure behind the mounting location.
Now, I need to get my 7 year old to stop using this thing to hang from!

When I drilled the holes for our Lend-a-hand/rail duper, I didn't find a stud running the full length of the door frame so I had to use bolts that went all the way thru the wall. DW made 2 nice wall covers to hide the plates & nuts though.
