Towing a toad with a MH feels just like not towing a toad, doesn't it?

We tow a Jeep Wrangler also. Can't even tell it's back there!! Got to be the best tow vehicle going!! 5 minutes to hook and unhook too, when DH and I do it together!

I towed a Wrangler to Alaska and back. Towed like a dream. And I only got one little ding in the windshield from a rock. On the way home. On an expressway. In Denver.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Don't back up..... We towed a cherokee to AK and back two summers ago- the wrangler doesn't work so well with two little kids- maybe when they get older.
If your wife is driving- get her used to it- I forget how many times I had to disconnect the toad because she didn't turn soon enough...

I agree, "don't back up"!
I tried that, once. With a Wrangler. Never again!
Well, OK, it worked fine for about 4 feet.
Then the front wheels slammed over against the stops.
Never again!

Perhaps I am wrong, but I have been told, DON'T BACK UP, with any toad connected as it will damage the steering! I don't think that applies just to Wranglers! Enjoy your Toad, and we are looking forward to your wonderful accounts of Alaska!!

Yes, that is quite true.
HOWEVER, the OP was discussing his successful tow with a WRANGLER, and I have never towed anything other than a Datsun pickup and a WRANGLER, and my one experience trying to back up was with a WRANGLER in tow, so in order to be as factual as possible I specified that I tried it with a WRANGLER, which is the truth.
As for "WILL damage the steering", it might be better to say that backing MAY damage the steering. My personal experience with backing a WRANGLER did no damage to the steering, and others have reported that they back up successfully with various vehicles with no trouble at all!
My personal opinion is that the ONLY towed load that can be backed up any time, anywhere, any distance, even around corners, is a trailer.
But, that is just my OPINION!

I apologize if you took umbrage to my remarks, but the point is do not back up with a toad in tow! The reason a trailer can be backed up is that it has no steering, which is what the problem is! When backing a toad the rear wheels want to go in one direction and the front will turn the opposite, it is physics not the make of the toad that does this. And Yes you can back up a few feet and nothing will happen, but any more than that and no damage, well I would go out and buy a lotto ticket, just consider yourself lucky.
