There are tow different types of tow dollies. I believe one type would be much easier to back up.

To you who have driven to Alaska from the continental USA with a tow vehicle, do you feel it was worth taking along? Did you get enough use with it, or dragging it along far too much?

I made stops in the Black Hills, Yellowstone and the Tetons on my way to Alaska, but I did use the Jeep in Canada and Alaska. For a Canada/Alaska only trip, you could probably get by without a towed, but I was visiting friends up there and did a lot of exploring on the Kenai Peninsula. Probably could have done it in the "C", but the mileage was better in the Jeep. The other consideration is breaking down up there. Nice to have a backup vehicle. One day driving in the Yukon Territory, I didn't see another vehicle all day.
I did see a lot of MHs without toads up there.

Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

I always wondered if it would be a waste of energy (fuel) to tow another vehicle when there are so many miles to travel, and so far to go each day to attractions that it would make sense to just do it all in the motor home. Never a need to back track to get back to the house at the end of the day.

Also benefitial if ferrying around in the lowers, paying heavy by the inch.

The only time we tow is when we go south for the winter.
We've been to Alaska twice, didn't tow either time.
