We are thinking of changing from our truck camper to a Class B+ like a Lexington 27. We pull a pontoon boat a lot with our setup. Anyone have comments or experience on doing this? One of the things that concern me is the turning radius of the class B.

We have never had a class B. It appears to me that they have very limited storage space. If you only use it a couple of days at a time they would be fine.

Pontoon boats I see are quite large. I don't know how much they weigh, but if you are concerned about weight, buying a smaller motor home on the E450 chassis will provide you with enough margin to handle the tow.

Some people tow a twin horse trailer with their B+/C rigs. The smaller the motor home, the lighter it typically will be, so when built on an E450 chassis, you are in good shape. Of course you need to be careful of tonque weight and over-all hitch rating.

These days new motor homes most often get fitted with a 500/5000 hitch of which I think is not enough for a pair of horses. I think such motor homes get outfitted with something special.

I would think the Ford V10 has the same power in any chassis and the Class B would be a 450 chassis and much lighter than the class A, so should have a much higher Hp to Wt ratio. A pontoon are about the same weight as a bass boat. Its the aerodynamics that are the load.
I am concerened with the handling of a a Class B vs a Truck Camper plus the manuverability at the ramp.

What is the weight of the boat? Most Sprinter class B models I've looked at are rated at 5000 pounds. If the boat is anywhere near that, I'd look at another way of doing things.

Do not think your boat will weigh anymore than my Ford Flex. Which I pull with no problem.
I see people with horse trailers also.

I will agree with "ron.dittmer" on what chassis you should be looking for.

The question you raise about turning radius, has a "catch 22" answer. The shorter the wheelbase, the tighter the turning circle or radius. However, the shorter the wheelbase usually means longer overhang of the rear bumper behind the rear axle. This longer overhang could cause some interference if turning too short. You may need to extend the tongue on the boat trailer.

I made the switch from a truck camper to a small motorhome and love it. If I was going to be towing a boat I would look at something with 4x4 like the Tiger. http://www.tigervehicles.com/
