In an attempt to deal with my fibromyalgia symptoms, dr has put me on a no gluten, soy, sugar, dairy, caffeine diet. In other words - caveman diet - meat and vege's
Once I have detoxed (28 days) we will add back in items one at a time to see if any triggers the fibro symptoms.
I started last Thursday - boy, I have spent alot of time reading labels the last 4 days!!
The worst so far has been the no caffeine! While I am not a soda drinker - I do (did) drink 2 cups of coffee every day along with about 4 glasses of ice tea per day. Water is just not cutting it!! I tried coconut water yesterday - not thrilled, but it is allowed and it is a different taste than plain water or water with lemon.
Did you know that now the recommended amount of liquids (water) is 1/2 your body weight in ounces? So if you weigh 150 lbs, you should drink 75 ounces of water/liquids per day.
While I am not a sweets person (don't get me wrong, I love pastries) but what I miss food wise is "normal" bread and cheese! I have found some bread and bagel substitutes at the grocery store, but with no dairy or soy, cheese is out of the question
I found a cookbook called "Almost Everything Free" and ordered from Amazon. It came in this morning. I am pretty impressed! Look forward to making some of the recipes.
On the upside, I've lost 4 lbs (which I know is water weight, but dr thinks I will lose more)
Anyone else dealing with a restricted diet such as this?

Nobody on here weighs 150lb!!

I am the worst when it comes to drinking water. When we started the Atkins diet, it was much as you describe for your detox period. What helped me with the water was Crystal Light and a few of the Wal Mart brand water powders.

Wow! That seems like one heck of a diet. It seems very similar to the Paleo diet that 2BH has been so successful with.

Just an idea, we make our sweet tea with caffeine-free tea and Splenda. Wishing you luck in finding your fibro triggers.

Just to add more fuel to the fire, I watched a show where they dehydrated a regular days menu. It had roughly 1/2 the amount of liquids we require a day. Premise being we only need to actually drink the other half.

I meant that a Dr who has a radio show IS a real doctor.

it may have to do with the detoxing that they are recommending so much water. No fuel, no fire!

I have fibromyalgia and I would be interested to know if this diet "eliminates" fibro so that you can add foods to determine what "triggers" it. My fibro is present 100% of the time but I do have episodes of pretty severe pain.
