For someone living in an RV, which we plan on doing in the next few weeks, is there any real problem with using Charmin bathroom tissue? I like it (for reasons I won't go into) better than anything else on the market. I put it in a glass of water and it does break down, although at a longer period of time and would rather use it than the RV toilet paper (Scott is the best one I've found if I have to use something other). It says it is septic tank safe on the packaging. What might I run into over the long run? Thanks for any input.

Use it with LOTS of water...absolutely no adverse effects.
It's better than using the super thin RV stuff that you have to use twice as much in order not to stick your finger through it.

If you use plenty of water there will be on problem. Over our lasf 40 years of RVing we have probably used every brand known. After dumping I put in about 5 gallons of water. RV TP is a waste of money.
The stupid ones are those that believe there is any advantage in using RV TP.

It is not a stupid question. The topic is raised a couple of times a year. I finally read enough discussion on this forum that I stopped buying RV toilet paper. We used regular northern for the whole six months we were in Florida last snowbird season. No problems occurred.

You've done the "break down test", so you know it will do what it's supposed to, in your tank. As mentioned, it's the water that you want in the tank to break it down.

Great you did the water test. How long did it take for the paper to break down? Did it breakdown just sitting in the water, or did you have to shake it before it broke up? It's best if the paper dissolves on it's own.
We use Scott's as it passed the water test, and more importantly, is available everywhere. Make sure the brand you end up using is readily available in stores.

WE geberally use the TP from Costco. That siad we always use TP that is septic tank rated as they do break down fast and most complete. As said earlier use lots of water and life will be good.

We having been living in our 5'vr for over 5 years now.
I likes my toilet paper soft, strong and absorbent.......and have yet to plug up the 3" diameter drain line or sewer hose/fittings.
Water is the key. Full toilet bowl before flushing any 'stuff' followed by a bit of rinse with sprayer.
Then wait until black tank is dang near full before dumping. Then open dump valve wide and run tank flush/rinse wand while dumping.
The high volume & weight of liquids push/carry the 'stuff' right on out like a kayak shooting a canyon water fall.
Ever seen a boulder being swept along a steam bed....Water is a powerful medium.
Use it..the TP & Water

one thing you need to remember is if it is septic tank safe it is OK for a RV black tank. there is no need to spend the extra money for RV toilet paper. also remember this. the RV black tank is a storage tank not a septic tank. nothing is left in there long enough to break down like in a septic tank. SO as long as you are happy with any TP go a head and use it. I would add that you should practice good house cleaning when you dump the tank. this is to keep the build up in the tank down to a minimum.
