I'm on my 3rd Class A coach so I'm no newbie when it comes to RV Service Departments around the country. I have always had good service from Camping World locations until now.

To start with my wife and I visited the Pooler, Georgia Camping World location to purchase a Class A coach. We wanted on that was a couple of years old. The salesman was ok but had to apologize to us over and over again at each coach we looked at. None, and I mean NONE, of them were clean. Yet they were for sale.

We left and finally settled in on a great deal from a private seller. Now the BIG issue.

We took a giant power surge on our maiden trip to upstate NY. Most of our electronics were destroyed. The good news is I have great insurance with only $250.00 deductable. So, we drive home and dropped our coach off at the Pooler Service Department. BIG MISTAKE.

Our coach has been there for almost a month. We have been lied to by the Service Manager numerous times. They replaced a fan we bought and paid $80.00 for (brand new by the way) with a cheaper one. Then we get to the micro-wave that is on the truck and will be here tomarrow to I had to "special order one" and it will be here sometime next week deal. Then we were told the one they finally got doesn't fit. Hello! Get the right one the first time.....

Like I said, it's been almost a month. Calles are not returned. I left messages for the General Manager of the operation and he has not returned my calls. They have my coach and I am held hostage.

By the way....here is the best. The Service Manager told us our coach would be ready last Wed. So we made plans for a trip with our grand kids to go gem mining in N.C. You guess it. That was last week's lie. So, not to upset the grand kids we wound up having to pay for hotel rooms instead of camping like we wanted to do. It cost us $400.00 more for the rooms than we would have spent at a camp ground.

The end of the story is yet to be told. Camping World in Pooler, Georgia still has our coach and there is NOTHING I can do about it. Nobody calls you back and the lies keep on rolling. If and when I get my coach out of their service department I will never return. I'm even thinking about having graphics made and place them on my coach warning people to stay away from their facility.

Just venting. They, Camping World, has me hostage and nobody at the company seems to care. What a shame..

First, Welcome to the forum.

Personally I think you need to take control of the situation. If insurance is paying them directly call your carrier and ask them to intervene. If they are reimbursing you it may be time to go get your motorhome.

Has anything been done which would make it undriveable? If not find another shop, pay Camping World for any work completed and go elsewhere.

Not saying this won't get messy, the new shop may charge more to fix the mess they get handed, at which time you will have to decide if seeking reimbursement form CW is worth your effort.

Well, by all means tell me the rest of the story. I would love to know why the Camping World in Pooler, Georgia lies to their service customers. They have a check sitting in a drawer for over $4,200.00 waiting on me to sign for the work. Why not just get the job done, order the right parts the first time around and not lie to the guy that has to sign the back of the check?

So, tell me the rest of the story my friend. Is it me? Should I just sit back and let the Service Manager lie through his teeth without getting mad? So, what is the rest of the story here?

I wish it was that easy. Yes, insurance is paying. They already wrote the check and the Service Manager has it waiting on me to sign the back of it once the work is completed.

I just want my coach back. It's been there far too long and the lies are insane. This guy has to be costing CW business. I can't believe I am the only customer with a rotten taste.

I even called the General Manager of the Pooler operation and left a message on his voice mail. NO CALL BACK. Geeeez, I wonder why? I hate voice mail. That's just a way to avoid talking to customers that aren't happy with their service.

When I called CW corporate offices they took my complaint and then told me that a Regional Manager would contact me in a few days. FEW DAYS? Rub salt in the open wound why don't they? A few days here and a few days there is what I have been fighting for the last month.

Taking the coach to another location is not in my best interest at this point in time. I just hope the place is packed with potential customers when I go and finally get my coach back. I plan on blasting the Service Manager for his LIES right there in front of all the customers. Maybe some will walk out and go to one of 3 other big RV service Centers in the Savannah, Georgia area.

Welcome.

I ain't never have no luck taking anything anywhere to a stranger and saying "Fix It".

If I get them to tell me step by step their plan then it turns out OK about 50% of the time.

Sorry about your experience and hearing it is the norm does not help I know. But as noted it is hard to get back in charge after the fact. The next person will go through the same experience. The 2% of RV owners that come here know about how stressful RV service can become but the other 98% do not. That is one reason I expect is service does not improve much over time.

Put the phone down and get off the computer. Go in person and talk to the managers face to face. Why sit on your back side, just get up and go down there. Take a cooler and move into your RV in the store lot till it's finished. Make sure they give you a key to the restrooms.

Update:

What a bunch of morons that work for the Pooler Camping World. The GM finally called and we are back to "The micro will be on the truck on Wed". Here we go again. The famous "It will be on the truck" excuse.

God help me....I just want my coach back home where it belongs. Maybe those fools are trying to sell it or something...LOL.

I guess I have no choice here. I'm just curious as to what excuse they are going to have on Wed. as to why my coach isn't finished yet?

Hang in there now that you have learned your lesson, and also you will have to excuse some of the deputized CEO's that post here as well, according to them you are not permitted to have a complaint being new.

I had a similar problem with my coach. It WAS NOT Camping World. The only way I finally got it taken care of was by showing up every day and asking about it in front of other customers. And asking why it was not done.

Polite buy unhappy customer in front of other customers gets results.

By the way, welcome to the forum. When it all gets settled please let us know the results.
