anyone know where I can find on the internet , or anyone know off hand what the spec's are for a 1998 four winds 28A class c with a V10..It does not say if its an E350 or E450, only that it is "Heavy Duty" v10..I would like to know the tow rating of this motorhome. I can't find anything on the rear hitch, nor the previous owner knows and there are only a few of the owners manuel with this unit. I have tried finding out on the internet but I guess I'm not typing in the right words on search engine. Can anyone help on this?
Thanks

I could be wrong, as I often am, but I believe the E350 is classified as Heavy Duty and the E450 is classified as Super Duty.
Thor, the parent company of Four Winds is still in business and are very helpful. You could email or call for a definitive answer to your question.

Here is a starting point: https://owner.ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/HomePage
Create an account and add a vehicle using the VIN. It'll give you the basic information about the truck. You can also take the VIN to a Ford dealer parts counter and ask them to look it up for things like engine, transmission, etc.

Ford won't know about any modifications performed by Four Winds. Also open the drivers door and look on the B piller for a sticker by Four Winds.

I owned a 1997 Four Winds with the 460 motor (not a V10) The hitch was rated for 3500lbs. The ratings on the E Super Duty were the same as the E450.

ok fellows thanks for all the info, I did make a mistake , it is not "heavy Duty" it is a Super duty
1998 Ford E Super Duty V 10 Four Winds by Thor Motorhome is barely used. It has only 36,000 miles. Well-maintained and is in great condition. Has a rear walk around bed, and full bath. Come and take a look and find out if this one is for you. $15,500, I bought this for $13,000.00 and it has the HWH hydralic jacks and the solid overcab (no windows) and the tv and storage is in the overcab area. I would guess this was a good buy? the body is in great shape, and everything is working like a charm so far.

Just to add my $.02, my 2003 Ford chassis is a “Super Duty,” but it’s an E350. The hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs, though.

We have a 2000 Four Winds 26Q on the Ford E-350 SuperDuty- the hitch is rated at 3000/300lbs. The problem with this chassis is that there is not much user capacity once the house has been built on it, and that includes the tow ratings.
That's fine by us, because we don't load a lot of stuff, and we have yet to tow anything.

Previously: '96 Kit Sportsmaster 212f fifth wheel coupled to our trusty '93 GMC Sierra K2500
Before that: '91 SunLite poptop truck camper
and the first: a Wildernest flip-top canopy.

Was this build on the same chassis? May explain why ratings are the same.

4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

The 28A can be mounted on either a 350 or a 450 chassis.

On the E450 chassis with V10 engine, the tow rating placard on mine says maximum 2,500 pounds with a maximum 200 pound tongue weight.

I have never personally seen a 28A on a 350 chassis, although I do know they exist, so I can not opine on the tow rating of that setup.

I may be wrong, but in 1997 I don't think that Ford was splitting the two into E350 and E450 yet. Maybe that is why the ratings were the same as the E450. It has been about 4 years since I sold it so I may be wrong. Either way the Four Winds we had was a very good camper. The only problems I had were Ford related (manifolds and brakes mostly)
