Just installed the mentioned unit and it will start but will only stay running for 2 or 3 seconds. After it stalls out the unit wants to continue priming itself. Have checked the fuel line, fuel filter and fuel pump, all functioning. What may I be missing
As this unit was installed in my 5'er is a gas unit, I am not sure what to use as a fuel tank, any ideas?
Any help will be much appreciated

I dunno about that specific unit. I do know that on smaller Onans, if it's dying after the start button is released, it's a sign that it's not producing AC voltage. Could be the regulator, brushes and slip rings, or rotor and stator. Or the oil pressure or level safety switch is being tripped.
I think your best bet is to A) add all the nameplate data including serial number & spec letter to your post, and B) ask the mod to move this thread to the tech forum where some usually-helpful Onan techs may respond.

What fault code are you getting? That will tell you where to look.

If it runs a few seconds and quits it could be low oil or a bad low oil switch….

A month or so ago I changed the oil in my Onan and I moved the wire bundle that is right in front of the oil fill to the top of the fill so it would be out of the way and easier. I didn't move the bundle back down after the oil was added. On the first of the following month I tried to start my Onan for my monthly one hour run under load and it started right up and then died. It did this several times and I had a code showing over frequency. This unit has never ever caused a problem so I figured it much have been caused by my moving that wire bundle. I removed the front cover and watched what was happening when it started. It seems the bundle being moved caused one end of the bundle to move under the throttle shaft (probably the wrong term). When the throttle tried to reduce the engine speed as the motor reached proper rpm, it hit the bundle thus not allowing the engine speed to reduce. The over frequency sensor then shut it down. I moved the bundle back to where it was originally and the unit hasn't missed a beat since.
Sometimes it is the little things.
