Agree with Eric. Expedition or 1/2 ton Burb with Class IV tow package. They are pretty common vehicles and should be avail at decent prices.

Black and Decker Air Station. Get a 12V extension cord and it will pump up a trailer tire to 50psi in no time. Dial in 50psi and it will stop automatically.

Mustang Island State Park is nice. Staff is very hospitable and you can hear the ocean from your camper (without actually having to boondock on the beach).
There is a drive from the park to the ferry and then from the ferry to Corpus, but it is not high-stress driving.

As a reference...My 21' 3,600 lb dry weight weighs 4,400 with propane, towels, toilet paper, groceries, drinks, fishing rods, tackle box, sheets, equip (chocks, hoses, tools, etc.). With that, it puts 550-600 on the ball. No way that your 27' TT will put only 500 on the ball when it is loaded out. Sorry, but you are going to need a 750lb capacity Class IV hitch with that 27' TT. You will likely be at 650+ on the ball when you are ready to camp. This is, of course, with empty water tanks.
As downtheroad said, you've got to ignore the dry weight and tack on the real world stuff that you will need/want to carry in the TT. This is a lot of TT for that Pathfinder. As someone who has pulled pups, utility trailers, and TTs over many miles, I can tell you that I would not ever dream of pulling a TT that big with either your Pathfinder or my Jeep over the open road. Accross town is another matter. Some might call me conservative, junior weight police, or whatever. This is regardless of hitch. That said, if you do plan to tow this TT on the interstate, I'd recommend the Hensley Arrow attached to a Class IV hitch for this application.

Every 15,000 miles per severe duty schedule. Don't want them to have any excuses to not make good on the lifetime powertrain warranty. This is even with Mopar 75-140 synthetic. Additive also has to go in as both axles have electronic LSD.

Hose really shouldn't be foul or dirty after you've run your grey through it.
Step 1 - Make sure that your black and grey tanks are full before dumping. Fill any remaining space in your black tank with pure water from the flusher. This will make sure that you have the most 'liquid' dump possible.
Step 2 - Dump black water first
Step 3 - Dump grey water second
Step 4 - Remove slinky hose from TT outlet and hold opening under the dump station water hose / faucet
Step 5 - Run fresh water through the slinky
Step 6 - Return said slinky to your hollow bumper
Shouldn't be anything foul about the situation if you've got enough blue/green juice in the tank and rinse as directed.

Does the owners' manual have any limitations/adjustments for frontal area ? That would be my concern with the V6, its transmission, and the axles under sustained long distance towing.

I took a section of plywood and cut it to size. I then took a couple of large metal L brackets and bolted them to the plywood. Free part of the L bracket goes under the bunk mattress, provides stiffness to prevent a middle of the night fall. DW 'decopaged ??' the plywood with cutouts from an old atlas to give it a spcecial on-the-road vibe. 3 yr old (soon to be 4 yr old) loves it.

Before you start to feel too validated, this is way too much trailer for a Durango. A comparison of a Durango to an Expedition is not valid as the Durango is nearly 3 inches narrower in width/track. Expedition is a much better towing platform than a Durango and it is marginal for this application. Eric is very experienced, has the right equipment, and knows how to set it up properly.
Also, at 5,500 lb dry weight, you might be hard-pressed to keep the Durango within GVWR when the TT is loaded for the road. Proper loading will also be crucial. Too much in the front of the TT....Durango over GVWR. Too much in the back of the TT...let the sway begin. Also, the jump from 25 to 33 feet is very significant. An additional 64 square feet of sail on each side of the TT.
IMO, you are going to need the Hensley Arrow if you want to tow this TT with the Durango. It's adherents sing it's praises about its ability to allow small TVs to tow very long trailers with much more stability than conventional anti-sway hitches.
I have never seen anyone on here, or out on the road, towing this much with a Durango. Regardless of hitch. Anybody with a Durango doing this ???

Port Aransas, TX RV Resorts

I've had great experiences with Mustang Island State Park but am considering a full hookup RV resort with a pool for this summer. Really liked Gulf Waters RV Resort but my rig isn't long enough to pass the by-laws there.
My options look like Pioneer and Surfside. I want a clean, family friendly resort that isn't occupied by local residents (i.e. trailer park). I would appreciate your feedback on either of these resorts (or any others you are aware off).
Thanks in advance for any info and insights that you can provide. :)

Unpredictable gusty, not sustained, wind often accompanies downpours. Could you be getting hit by gusts of wind ? Microburst could hit you and miss the guy that went by. It is possible.
Good idea to slow down in the downpour anyway as your braking won't be as good should you have to take any evasive action for any reason. Guy who plowed ahead at 62 mph in the downpour might not be the wisest fellow on the road.

That's a very nice HTT...congrats on your purchase !
Hopefully your Tahoe has a tow package with a Class IV hitch, tranny cooler, lower than standard axles, and enhanced engine cooling. If it does not, then you need to make some mods before setting out. Most 4.8 Tahoes are city dwellers not really meant to tow anything more than the weekend boat.
Wide range in weight for "four teenagers"....four 100 lb girls or four 200 lb varsity football players will make a lot of difference. In any case, loading will be very important. Agree with the other poster who said to put all of your stuff in the HTT. Try to focus the load above (not behind or in front of) the axles. You will want to keep the tongue weight from pushing your Tahoe over its GVWR. DO NOT try to lower the tongue weight by loading your stuff in the BACK of the HTT. This will contribute to trailer sway and make you less stable overall.
4.8 is the economy motor in this vehicle when not towing, but it will not be an economy motor when towing. In fact, I would expect your mileage to be worse than 5.3 or 6.0 versions of the same engine because it will be laboring much harder - - especially in a headwind. Let the engine spin and rev because that is how it makes it's power. Just turn up the radio and occasionally glance at your gauges. Keep speed around 55-60 mph. My two cents.

after all Jeep Grands have been unibody for several generations now.
To elaborate....
Jeep XJ (83-01 Cherokee), ZJ (93-98 Grand), WJ (99-04 Grand) and WK (05-10 Grand) are all unibody frame vehicles....but they are not car-based. They have much more heavy duty steel built into a very rigid sub-frame. This is one of the reasons the WK Jeep weighs in at over 4,700 lb empty.
Newer crossover vehicles are car based and built to car/minivan durability standards. These include the Ford Edge, GMC Acadia, etc. These vehicles are much more lightly built and are designed for much greater efficiency. The new Explorer is a crossover, not a unibody SUV.
None of these small/mid-sized vehicles...Jeeps, Explorers, or CUVs are serious tow vehicles. Light weight, short TTs are all that you want to tow with them even when they are equipped with stout powertrains. Unibody or body on frame.
