RE: Ohio Rally, Annual Spring Rally April 30 - May 2, 2010

We will not be able to attend the spring rally this year. We just learned from Katies cheer coach that they won a bid to national cheer competition that weekend. We will be in Cincinnatti instead. Sorry to miss a good time.

RE: Ohio Rallies for 2010

A Harley biker is riding by the zoo in Washington , DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.
Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event.
The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.'
The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.'
The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page... So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?'
The biker replies, 'I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican.' The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:
U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH
Oh my Gosh!!!!!! That is too funny! The sad thing is it probably would end up that way ( Unless the reporter was from Fox News) lol.

RE: Ohio Rally-Harbortown, MI-June 18-20, 2010

I'll keep you in mind. I'm local, so I may drop in to visit. I don't drink, so I may appear to be a dull boy, *but* I know lots of fine fishing sites, and monsters swim the creeks in June.
You can click "aerial view" at HARBORTOWN for an idea of the layout.
Pepperoni
Hi Pepperoni. Don't worry about appearing "dull". When we discuss mixed drinks, etc it is in the relaxing way. I have never seen any of these people actually drunk. We will also have a blender of the finest non alcoholic drinks and smoothies going. We will have our 3 children with us, so trust me this is more of a family type of partying. This is a fun group. I hope you can stop by.
I am sure you would have some interest in your fishing sites. Hope to see you.

Hmmm...Ohio people invading Michigan????
May have to attend so I can do something about that...:)
There's even a rumor that Jim Tressel may show up! :B
We expect to see the Cadmans there. They are more famous than Jim Tressel.

RE: Ohio Rally-Harbortown, MI-June 18-20, 2010

I put in a call this morning to make our reservations but the office is closed on the week-ends. Left a message. So count us in for this FUN time with a great bunch of folks.
We are coming in on Thursday. Helen, reve up that Margarita Machine. I'm ready already. I had a friend from work tell me about using vanilla vodka with orange crush and voila a "Dreamscicle."
And the other was blue raspberry vodka & lemonade tastes like the blue part of a bomb pop. mmmmmmmm :C Getting ready for TopSail next month. Can you tell?
Robin- Your recipes sound good. When we go to Kalahari I always get the Bomb Pop drink. It is awesome, tastes just like a real bomb pop.

Wow, I was reading that everyone is using up their snowdays at school. Today is actually day number 4 make-up for us. We have used a total of 9 days. The kids will be in school until mid June at this rate. This is going to put a crimp in camping season!

The thread for Harbortown June 18th - 20th will be started this evening when Lee gets home from work. We have lots 99-94 and lots 117-123. Lee and I will be in 101 and Bob and Helen in 100. The cost is 44.00 per night and they require one nights deposit when you book. Helen and Lee have some fun ideas for this rally.

RE: Ohio Rallies for 2010

Dan (Blue Max) Please accept my two cents worth on the discussions about sanctioned/unsanctioned, rally signs and dangles, t-shirts etc. We were among the original attendees at Baylor Beach several moons ago. When Steve and Larry first put the rally online, the intention was simple. To gather a group of people who enjoyed camping and making new camping friends. There was no talk of organizing anything. Thanks to both Steve and Larry for taking the leap to start the Ohio Rally. Someone (Greg) said in the very beginning not to
make things complicated, just keep it simple. I don't believe people host
rallies for a "dangle." I think their intentions are simple, to enjoy camping with friends. Let's tread lightly on these "issues" so as not to lose sight of the original goal. My vote is to drop the sanction designation, t shirts and the dangles. Let's just go back to the simple approach. Life's short, relax and enjoy your friends. BTW, I have great memories of the original rally at Baylor. I remember everyone mingling, reluctant to leave their new
friends and someone with a coffee pot going around filling coffee cups. I sat
back and watched this little "neighborhood" and smiled. It was truly simple and heartwarming. Linda
Linda, that was perfectly stated!

Good morning. It is pretty dreary here today. Hope you both get better Fred and Robin. Is it just me or do these forums seem dead? Everyone must be busy with Fall activities.

Do you think "Balloon Boy" will be there? :h :B

Maybe we could start a new reality TV show about our group! :B
We are NOT using my children! lol. I am one of those fools that was sucked into the story watching the t.v and praying that little boy was okay. I was so excited at the smooth touchdown and the possibility that he was okay. I just kept thinking of my own children and how horrified I would be. Then..... I learned that we were just scammed by in the running for " worst parents of the year". I don't automatically give them the award because there are a lot of crazies in the running.

Thanks Fred. Our lack of camping was just unacceptable this past year. Definitely hoping to make up for it next year. Looking forward to some of the new places on the list.

I could never figure out "official" vs "unofficial". But I really don't care either way. Just give me a list of all available rallies and I will see which ones we can attend. I am hoping for a better camping year for the Parks family in 2010!
