RE: Trailer tongue tilted up

My aframe bent becouse of the pressures from the equalizer hitch when
going uphill and making a turn. I had it reinforced and its ok now.
The header beam which was very light weight bent. I also repaired
a couple of cracks at the same time. I had my gen on the back but I dont know if that caused it or not.

RE: Motorcyle hitch haulers

I think 800lbs is a bit much for any rv other than a big diesel pusher maby.
My bike is 250 and I thought that was a lot but it works. I had a welder build
a rack welded to the frame and its very sturdy. But the limiting factor is the strength of the rv frame. Mine got a few hairline cracks that I had to have welded.

RE: Scooter Tilt-A-Rack installed on Open Range 385RLS

My Husqvarna TE510 is 250 lbs. My Yamaha 2800 gen is 67 lbs. I dont know how much the rack is but I also added a extra 6v golf cart battery up front and carry all my jug water under the front bed. Mine handles OK.
I also moved the spare from back to under the frame just ahead of the front axle. Pics upon request.

RE: no power to brake controller

I had the same problem and the fix was a ground on the trailer. The mech
pulled on the wire where its screwed into the frame and it just popped off. He
reinstalled it and it works fine.

RE: Stereo Speakers Inside Travel Trailer

I had some wiring questions on my Prowler. I called Fleetwood and they sent
me a complete wiring schematic fot my trailer. It really helped when I was changing to a different stereo that acually sounded good and picked up actual
radio signals. What a revelation.

RE: adding spare tire bike rack on rear bumper of travel trailer

You need to have it welded to the frame to be safe.

RE: engine miss

When the dealer pluged in thier meter it did read a miss but that was already known. I guess our cheap code readers dont pick up everything?
Thats the final word. He and I are going to take it on a test run with the toad
and the whole package for about 100 or so miles. I expect everything will be ok.
I was trying to start my portable gen yesterday on my TT and it didnt start. First time that happened. I had added a small lawnmower style fuel filter and it didnt like it. Removed it and it ran perfect. It pays to check your stuff before you leave on a long trip!!

RE: How to carry a 3rd ATV?

In reference to Pats rack mentioned above, Mine is the one mentioned as a update. my bike is about 250 and his is a heavier Suzuki, about 320 I think.
We both have 6" I beam frames so his is a good indicator. We both have had frame issues. Mine was a small crack and his was more involved. Both were repaired though. Keep on trucking!!! (or camping)

RE: engine miss

They changed 6 of the 8 injectors. Cleaned the rail becouse they said they
couldnt find new ones. It runs like a striped - *** - ape now and alls well.
He does use Sea Foam but I think the damage was already done when he bought it.
It just got worse. Maby when he put a dose of Sea Foam in it, it knocked a bunch of trash into the injectors?

engine miss

My friend and I were trying to figure out why his 8.1 eng on his
Alegro was missing. We hooked up my code reader and no codes.
He took it in and it turned out that the injectors were fouled causing
the missfire. They replaced all the injectors and cleaned the rails becouse they couldnt find new ones. Why didnt it throw a code?

RE: bumper/generator

Its not that big of a deal to weld a platform to the frame and move the spare to under the trailer between the frame rails to gain a little extra capacity.

PapaJim is right on the money on this one. There is no such thing as overkill on a project like this. Been there, done that.

RE: Solution for a hot trailer when you stop for lunch?

I have a Yamaha 2800 Gen. I have it mounted on a rack on the back welded to the frame. I run it while I'm driving to charge the batteries so I can cut down on running it when I'm parked. Works very well. You can do the same thing to
run the ac if you want.

RE: 1/2 ton and Salem 26TBUD

There is a lot more concerns than what is being talked about here. What works for
you in regard to room, weight etc are important. What is also true is look into quality (frame, particle board etc.) I will never buy anything with particle board floors or roof again after replacing half of my roof in a 4 yr old trailer. I also had to reinforce the aframe due to the hitch putting stress and bending the cross frame member due to stresses of turning while going uphill. Lipert frame.

RE: Yamaha 2400is question.

Check the oil in the gen. It will shut down if its low. I did the same thing with my Yamaha and it works great.

RE: Rear receiver hitch install

If you dont have a encolsed underbelly you can mount the spare between the frame
rails. I did it and it works very well. No exposure to the sun and weight savings on the bumper.

RE: Major Hail Damage Repair or Not?

We have had three diffenent hail issues. The last two we just sent the check
to the bank and now we have a paid for trailer. Also we are about $3000 ahead but we have hail damage thats just looks and I decided that it didnt look bad enough to go through all the hassle to get it fixed and fight the ins co again.
The first time was a nightmare. Live and learn. Of course the resale is not as good but the trade off was worth it. I used the extra money for a motorcycle rack on the back pluse a gen rack so I'm a happy camper. By the way, the rubber roof never did get damaged just the sides, ends, vents etc.

RE: Partial Replacement of Rubber Roof

I just went through this very problem. The rv stores sell sections of rubber roof material. I bought a piece 9 X 9 (the smallest they had) and it worked out
good. I also replaced the insulation but it was a little too thick and the cieling in the bedroom is buldged down a little bit but I guess thats a small price to pay on a diy job. I used a strip of etenabond tape 4" wide for the joint where it joined the rest of the roof. I hired a local handyman to do the job and the total labor was $700. Materials $300. I think cheaper than takeing
it to a rv dealer plus it stayed on my own property during the job. I also had to replace the wood frames that were also rotted out. We doubled up on the front rib
to give the front joint more strengh. Havent had it out yet, its still over 100 degrees every day here in Texas.
