RE: Do I really need new rims as well?

JJBIRISH, How is HpyKmpr1962 citing Goodyear out of content, if they published the info on the tires? I mean its a PDF on there home page for the Marathon. :? "Do not exceed the maximum pressure for the wheel. o If the maximum pressure for the wheel prohibits the increase of air pressure, then the maximum speed must be restricted to 65 mph. o The cold inflation pressure must not exceed 10 psi beyond the inflation specified for the maximum load of the tire." Now to me if your wheel can't take the extra PSI you can't go faster the 65MPH on the Goodyear, but if your wheel can take 10 extra PSI, then you good for 66-75MPH. This is a big liability for Goodyear to put this out if it were not true. DaCarmack

RE: Doug Nash DNE2 overdrive

No the MPG did not change, but were I live you can't blink with out going up a hill. Just the fact that i could pull hill 5 to 10mph faster was well worth it. Not only that just having the engine run at a lower RPM was all so very nice. I got any were from 7.5mpg( with trailer and lots of genset time) to the 9's doing 60-65MPH. I got 10mpg once but that was a fluke. My Lazy Daze was 22ft with a 10,500 GVWR and a 13,500 GCWR. With full LPG(10gal) full gas(50gal) full water(50gal) it weighed 9200ish. I would go out to the Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area to ride my ATV, with the trailer I have, a Carson ATV 2 twin axle, it weight 1560lbs with a 7000GVWR, 1 ATV, 1 ATC 800lbs total, and two 5gal gas can's. So let call it 2500lbs for the trailer. I also traveled light when I would camp. You know hamburgers, hot dog, you know cheap. So with a total wight of around 11,700lbs I got in the high 7's, but I ran the genset a lot. It would do 65 on the flat's, but on a incline I would have to take it out of Over3rd and go into direct 3rd. Going up the Grapevine on I5 here in Cal, I could keep my speed up farther up the hill because of Over 2nd, but in the end I would still be a tick over 40MPH in direct 2nd. If you need more info just asked away and I will try to help. DaCarmack P.S. Sense you a 460BB I am sure you will be in better shape then me with a 350SB

RE: Doug Nash DNE2 overdrive

I have a Gear Vendor's in my 85 Lazy Daze with a 350 th400 and a 4.10axle. at 65mph my tach show 3300RPM to 3500RPM. When you shift in to Over 3rd it drop to 2600ish RPM. Much nicer. The best thing about the GV is the Over 2nd gear. To me that is the pass, power and hill pull gear. You can run Over 2nd to 65mph that's about 4000RPMs. I tow a Carson trailer called an ATV 2 twin axle trailer and I am so happy I have the GV On CA 79 there is a hill I have to go into Over 1st if I have the trailer with the ATV on it. It would be no fun if I only had 3 gear's to chose from. It was not cheep to have done, about $4500 all said and done but well worth it if you are going to keep the RV for some time

RE: I have been thinking of going gas

Very good 8.1 Van. I for one dislike torque management. On the 6.0 and the 8.1 I have driven with a tach in them, if you have your foot on the floor as the RPM's go past 4000ish you can watch and here the motor loss RPM's, maybe down to 3700ish, the back up again. I've also notice it on take off to. If you floor it really fast, it does not seem to "pick up" as fast as if you were to push it down slowly to the floor. I keep that van. Its a rare bird.

RE: I have been thinking of going gas

8.1 Van, on the Hypertec it never got rid of the torque management, and I did not see that on the PUP. Do you still have torque management on the Van? At lest on the 6.0L GM, had to send the whole computer off to get rid of it, but man what a different's

RE: I have been thinking of going gas

Custom made header are nice, but were I am, if there's no CARB sticker, it aint happen. The K&N is just a drop in. I'm talking about also having a bigger opening for it to suck down more air. Now I have know Idea how big a 8.1 van's opening is. I hope its noting like a Astro van, that was way to small. The PUP looks to me like a hypertec so I know what that is. Now as for the power of the 8.1 your preaching to the converted. The only one I have driven was a U-haul. The 26ft model full to the top, towing a car hauler with a Hyundai Accent on it, also full of stuff. 65+MPH on I10 out to Phoenix got 7MPG, and that was with a heavy foot. I thought that was pretty good for that big box. After driving that I will not buy a diesel. 8.1 Van, on the hypertec it never got rid of the torque management, and I did not see that on the PUP. Do you still have torque management on the Van? At lest on the 6.0L GM had to send the whole computer off to get rid of it, but man what a different's carringb, get that video so we can put this to rest.:W DaCarmack

RE: I have been thinking of going gas

I think he pushing more them 305hp sense he has the bank kit on it and more. http://www.bankspower.com/products/show/126/38 Me and my old man but that same banks kit on his 26.5ft Lazy Daze, that kit turned it in to a monster. Really it was scary fast now. The 8.1L is bad a$$, but in the van there are no header's the will fit it that I know of, and maybe not even a intake for it. So with that said I say there are no bolt on performance part for a 8.1L van, except for a computer re-flash. If I'm wrong, I have no problem saying so. So let's see some smog legal bolt on's that fit the Van. DaCarmack

RE: I have been thinking of going gas

WOW!! I've never see any one call BS on carringb :E He's always be a strait shooter in all the post Ive read from him. I believe him just because I've had an Astro van up to 110MPH with a chip of course. As for the V10, They rock. :C I would buy one in a heart beat if I had the cash. DaCarmack

RE: The Bonus Jack is BACK!!

A Bonus Jack looks just like a Big Mac but 10x better. Jack in the Box's secret sauce it much much better then Big Mac sauce. I should know I worked McD's in my late teens, early 20's The Bonus Jack was a staple in the 70's menu from Jack, so my dad tells me. DaCarmack

The Bonus Jack is BACK!!

Hey all. I just wanted every one to know or that remembers the Jack in the Box Bonus Jack, IT'S BACK!! The one where I live(Murrieta) had just started to put up the sign for it. Now I'm 30 years old so this was my first one, but my dad who was with me, he's 56 years old, has always talked about the bonus jack, sense I was a kid and how he wished it was back. So can you guess what we got? Yep a Bonus Jack. He told me that the Bonus and 2 taco's were his collage diet back in the 70's. :) So if you remember it or have heard of it go get one it's for a limited time only. DaCarmack

RE: Please Give Me The Straight Scoop On This One!!!

Lazy Daze sell every RV they make. They have no need or want to build any more then the all ready do. There is usually a 3 to 6 month wait on them. DaCarmack

RE: 80% Rule

there IS no 80% rule. It's just something that is made up mostly on this forum. There is absolutely NO manufacturer that says you can only tow 80% of what they've aleady SAID you can tow. X2!!

RE: HUGE changes in my search for a tow vehicle

My best friend has a 2002 F150 single cab long bed XL, yes a base model, with a 4.6L and a 3.55 axle. It has a Volant air intake, a Magnflow exhaust and a Hypertec programmer for firmer shift's. He never got more then 18ish MPG( he has a heavy foot). He bought a Forest River SandStorm Toyhauler. Here is the link to see what it is. http://www.forestriverinc.com/nd/default22.asp?location=rv&unittype=&page=floorviewertt&model=T23FLSPL&choice=sandstorm&nav=rec&name=325&series=SandstormWide A 4.6L with 3.55 is a no go IMHO, with a 4.10 or more maybe, but then go's your MPG. His truck hated that trailer, and that's with noting in it. We never did put any weight in that trailer. The truck towed it twice. Still has the truck, but tow's that trailer with a F350 DRW diesel. So what I'm trying to say here is get the bigger engine, even with a 3.55 axle a 5.4L will tow easier and nicer then a 4.6L. DaCarmack
