RE: Do you always follow your GPS?

We follow ours without hesitation about 90 - 95% of the time.
I have named the lady Susie and she is usually very helpful and normally quite accurate. You always have to use some old fashioned common sense with any or your travel and turning decisions.
I think that for the most part Susie is very good and quite helpful.
The only thing that I don't like about it is that when you are scanning or researching and you find a place that you want. The thing that I don't like is that it will show the mileage distance to that target location and it seems like it must have calculated the air mileage instead of the road mileage. I am not really positive that it is the air mileage, but it sure seems like it must be, because the distances are always much shorter than the roads/streets distances will be.

RE: Kings Bay Georgia

Jim,
The Eagle Hammock Campground is really nice but is frequently filled to capacity.
Thought that I would also tell you about another military campground that is fairly near to that same area. It is an exceptionally nice campground called Pelican Roost and is located just north of Jacksonville. Would be approx 20 miles from the Sub Base at Kings Island. Pelican Roost is located on Mayport Naval Station and is much larger than Eagle Hammock. Your son could also sponsor you here just as well as at Eagle Hammock.
Pelican Roost is nice as it is located right on the waterfront and you can watch all the Navy and Coast Guard ships come past you as they come in to Mayport for maintenance and fuel.
Just thought that you might want to know about another alternative location in that region. Any of the military campgrounds are going to be pretty reasonably priced in the $12 to $18 per night range.

RE: tracking devices in coaches with outstanding loans

Did you also know that these devices also have tiny camera built0in so they can wacth and see if you are doing anything illegal in your RV, also monitors your speed and will send a ticket if necessary, etc.
...but like Center Pin stated wearing a tinfoil hat counteracts these devices
:) :b :E :S
Can I place an order for a couple of those tin foil ball caps in a size 7 1/4 ????????

RE: Almost Time to Leave

Take it slow and easy and have a great time. If you have not been along that route since the 80's you will notice a significant increase in the traffic. If you don't already have one I would highly suggest that you buy a GPS to assist you along the way.
It doesn't have to be a real expensive one to be very helpful and handy.
Good luck, Larry & Barb

RE: Review of RV Security Techniques

In additions to the other suggestions, I made up a little bright colored laminated card and stick it in a window near the door. It has the following typed and says " Uninvited intruders should go to their favorite funeral home and select a casket of their choice before attempting to enter our coach " This has worked so well that our own freinds and family is a little goosy about knocking on the door.

RE: TOW DOLLIE LIGHTS QUESTION

We towed with the same set up as you described, for three years and nearly 20K miles. We never had any functional lights on the dingy and never had any problems what so ever. You will hear some people say that you must have seperate lighting on the dingy and that some states actually require it. Can't speak about every state but we ask in several states and in each the authorities said that it was not required.
As long as your dolly lights are visible and operational I would not worry about anything more than that.

RE: This Sucks

See that big 2005 Fleetwood Excurision 39S you have in your signature? Take it and move south for the winter. There are many of us here.
The ONLY reason I live here is because this is where my wife lives....and she won't go because the kids live here....I'm stuck.
Hi Joe,
I can certainly relate to your sad delimma with the wife, kids and grandkids. Wish that we could move at least 6 or 7 hundred miles south of here. I have tried to convince the wife that we should move for some time now. Positive that both the daughters and their familys would follow us just about anywhere. Wouldn't really care whether that was southeast south or or southwest, just as long as it was a much warmer area. If I could ever sell the wife on this concept we'd be packing up within a few weeks.
Our weather here in NE Kansas totally sucks. We have about 7 months of winter, then 3 months of cool rainshowers about every 18 hours, then 2 weeks of great weather for camping, then 2 weeks of nearly unbearably intense heat and humidity, then 2 more weeks of ideal camping weather and then 2 weeks of coolish weather which we are now in and I guess that I need to get my rear end out there and winterize our big girl.

RE: We no longer have an rv- UPDATE Page 9

We were so very sorry to hear this terrible news. Thankful that you guy's, and the pets were able to escape without injury. You can always replace the basic material things. Knowing that you most likely had many other personal treasures that were lost in the fire will be un-replaceable and that is always awfully sad.
Hopefully your insurance provider will work hastily to get your claim settled quickly, and to your satisfaction.
Here is wishing you and Ronnie the very best for your future.
PS: That is really quite a way to celebrate Rebecca's Birthday.

RE: Tandem Tow Dolly

Check with "jimandsue60" about that. They have a real neat one that they tow a pickup truck on with it's front wheels up on the dolly and then they have a full sized Artic Cat ATV that is loaded from the side and it sets in front of the pickup. I am sorry but I can't tell you the brand name of the dolly.

RE: Outlook Express Cuts Off Print

I don't know the specifics but I have heard a lot of people are having major problems with IE 8. So much so that they were advising others to not download IE 8, and if they had already to delete it and it would revert back to IE 7.
Can't say that this had any effect on the printing functions or not.
Just my 2 cents worth.
