RE: Hwy 89A - Sedona, AZ

89A to Jerome has a length limit and justifiably so. Most people do not recommend 89A between Sedona and Flag for RV travel. I thought there was a length restriction there as well but it may have been lifted.
Personally, I would not do either one with an RV; Jerome for sure.

RE: Grand Canyon RV Park full hook-up?

I-40 does not go to the Grand Canyon; you take Hwy 64 up from Williams. It is a good asphalt road.

Without question - Trailer Village right at the South Rim. Not fancy but adequate and right there.

RE: durango to ouray

I am glad you do all those things; it is all the others that don't that bother me. On some of the turns many rigs NEED more than one lane.

RE: Gila Cliff Dwellings, NM

Hwy 15 to the GCD is no place - legally or not - for an RV.

RE: CG near Flagstaff/Sedona

Average temps are 94 / 63 for July 23rd at Camp Verde. Williams it is 82 /51 for same date.
It is 58 miles from Williams to Sedona including Hwy 89A. Probably about a 1 1/2 hour drive each way. And longer to Jerome.
Depends on what you are going to Sedona for - staying in Williams means a lot of time on the road and not doing things.
Your choice.

RE: CG near Flagstaff/Sedona

Good day to you.
We go to that area frequently and would have to agree with you. We gave up on parks in Flag - best one is J & H or whatever if you can tolerate all the rules, etc.
The park in Sedona itself is tight and just not someplace we would want to stay. We did stay there once several years ago with a much smaller unit and have checked it out a couple of times since then. Opinion did not change.
We have now stayed at Distant Drums in Camp Verde for all our Sedona things. It is close to Sedona, Montezuma Castle, Montezuma Well, etc. It has a pool - not big - but a pool. Nice, clean place with great staff.
There is still a lot of construction on Hwy 179 on edge of Sedona and they are rebuilding the bridge in town. This is not good for rv travel to say the least.
Email or PM me if you would like further info.
Be safe.

Have done both ways many times - use Lizard Head with an RV and Red Mountain without an RV.

Have done it a lot from Tucson and up thru Phoenix.
I would definitely go with your #1 - that is the route we and most everyone we know in our area take.

RE: favorite campground in colorado

Lived in CO 1995-2003 and have done a lot of traveling in it.
When living in Estes Park and first going back we highly recommended Elk Meadow and it still might be the best place in town - but, thru changes in ownerships and all, it has deteriorated considerably over the last few years. We were there for a month last summer and not sure we would go back.
We love Buena Vista area very much. And Ouray. Etc.
We also love Breckenridge and Tiger Run is the only show in town so to speak. And their price and attitude reflect that. And it seems something or another is always not working.
But I am not sure why you feel you want to stay 3 months in one place.

Having done it all more than once I agree 100% with Stan except you might want to avoid the tunnel and the road either side with your rig. If you want an easy alternate just email or PM me.

RE: DURANGO, SILVERTON, TELLURIDE COLORADO LOOP

John - aka cruiserjs - is right on. Depending on your comfort with mountain roads and dropoffs you might want to go to Search and put in Red Mountain Pass / Million Dollar Hwy / Hwy 550. Going north and without the 5er should not be an issue but just so you know it. This is a fantastic loop as he describes.

RE: Monument Valley & Canyon de Chelly

In answer to your question I would take the tour in MV. Also do the drive early in the morning or later evening for the best photo ops; you will not get the photo ops like that with the tours as they are later and the colors and shadows are gone.

RE: Oregon Coast

And, in most of the private parks, you best make reservations soon. To get the site areas we wanted at both Cannon Beach and Winchester Bay we made reservations a year in advance.
