RE: RV repair

The only place I trust to work on my coach in SA is Texas RV Supply, on the Austin highway.

RE: Monaco Lineup

Kind of a bit of irony:
Ford and Navistar split ways over the diesels built by Navistar and placed in Ford trucks....and now Navistar is building motor coaches built on and powered by Ford Motor Company.
One of those twist of fate, who da thunk?
You mean to tell me the Monaco's are powered by the Power Stroke diesels that are on Ford trucks?Absolutely NOT, they are powered by Cummins for the time being and are being tested with several of the Maxforce engines that are used in their OTR trucks.

RE: Rv Service, Wildwood, FL.

Brett and Caroline, the old managers of Wildwood are the new owners and their techs are some of the old Monaco techs, so if you ever had work done there, you know what to expect. Yes, they opened in Sept and I was always satisfied with their work.

RE: The Reef RV Park in Rocky Point

I know you two are regulars when it comes to Mexico, but try the restaurant in the park. It's a bit pricey but the food is excellent. Its a 4 or 5 star restaurant. Delores sells good burritos on the weekends door to door and "Gilberto" ( I can never remember his name) gives a good price for "Yumbo" shrimp on the beach at the park. "Rosies" on Constitucion Ave in town for lunch.
Gee, kinda points to what I think of when talk of Mexico comes up. Food.
Waitaminute. Are you guys leg pulling. I know you've been to Mexico, You've never been to Puerto Penasco before???? or is it just The Reef?Believe it or not, I lived in Mexico when I was younger and went to school there, till the 9th grade. I got my 1st drivers license there and I have traveled in most every state, but have never been to Puerto Penasco. LOL, this will be the 1st time and looking forward to the experience.

RE: Arctic Circle

If you want to damage your vehicle, then that is the road to travel, almost guaranteed glass and body damage from passing trucks. The best way is to take one of the shuttle vans up and back, then you can watch the scenery and leave the driving to the professionals. We also started up and turned around because of the oncoming trucks, then took a mail flight north of the circle and really enjoyed that.

RE: Guns in Mexico

I lived there for years and now travel in Mexico and never felt the need for any "protection" other than common sense and friendly actions. We do a lot of boon docking there, but always in a good area with no known or obvious trouble spots. There are areas where the indigenous groups are now pushing back, after years of being dumped on, so make yourself familiar with the area you plan on visiting. In other words, use good common sense and be aware of your surroundings and leave any illegal protection in the US, as it is NOT needed in Mexico.

RE: Fun and Games at Km 21

I have been told, but not confirmed, that boats, motors and boat trailers, were removed from the permit required list, in the past 2 years. This might be worth looking into for future visitors. I know that several friends that used to have to get a TIP permit for their boats, no longer get one and that is where I got my info.

Very interesting and I am going to dig a little deeper into their product. I have a BIL in PA that is a forklift mechanic and I'll ask him if he has any knowledge of them.

Is this coach at Beaudry RV? If so, I think I know who it might have belonged to and the reason he traded.

RE: Monaco Lineup

Not much is happening with Monaco manufacturing since they went belly up. Navistar was suppose to have bought them, but not much news as to what they are going to do with the company.
They are building 1 coach per week in Coburg, OR and have re-opened a repair facility there as well. The repair is now located at the plant in Coburg and not at the Diamond Hill Rd facility anymore.
Navistar did buy them and has since held two rallies to bring people up to speedActually, according to the VP of sales for Monaco RV during the last week of October, they are building 1 1/2 coaches a day, not a week. All you have to do Ray, is read a little bit and find out that they are doing fairly well, in this down market.

RE: Whole coach water filter

Home Depot or Lowe's carry the filters that fit your system for a lot less money than those bought at CW or any other RV place. Also, with a whole house filter, you can remove any pressure regulator you have in the line, as the filter will regulate pressure as well as restrict flow. We have a double whole hose system and do not have any problem with flow or pressure.

RE: Mexico, enjoy or avoid?

Going to Mexico is foolish & dangerous. your chances of coming back alive are close to nil. Stay away.
(that should solve the overcrowded RV park situation)BC is also noted for it's gangs and drug trade, so why are you down on Mexico :h :S

RE: Nick has a violent encounter...

No, it wasn't a campground. "We have been parked at an RV repair facility in Elkhart, Indiana having some repairs and upgrades done to our motorhome."
Hope everyone learns something from this; and doesn't just turn into a hot debate about carying firearms. Nobody's mind will be changed, and people will just get upset. I think there's at least one lesson for everyone here.I think you need to include all they said, not just what you want to emphasize.... "our motorhome was parked in their small camping area". As I said, it was not a retail parking lot, but a "small camping area".

RE: Speedco-Brunswick GA -Exit 29 I-95

I wonder if each Speedco sets their own prices. The last time I used them it cost me just under $300 for OLF and 1 fuel filter. No, it is a national chain, NOT a franchise and their prices are posted online. Call or email them with the date, location and invoice number for their review, and I will bet you get a refund, unless your engine is an ISM or C-15.

Very cool head on the man and he can watch my back any day. Glad all he lost was a few possessions and not his life. That is why I carry something in my vehicle all the time, just for such scenarios.

RE: American RV Warranty

Just due your homework very carefully, as there is one company, operating under various names, that is recommended by one or two on here, yet has an F rating with the state BBB and many many open complaints against them. Do NOT take anyone's recommendation as it's OK because someone said so.

RE: Speedco-Brunswick GA -Exit 29 I-95

We had ours serviced in Fernley NV by Speedco and like Dave, I was very impressed with the professional service and the prices. I had been using one of the major truck stops, until I was notified they would no longer service RVs, so switched to Speedco, which saved me both money and time, plus IMHO, received much better service.
