RE: Pie Town, NM Campgrounds

Interesting? Yep, if you are looking for a place to park , it is great. If you are looking for something else, describe what u are looking for. Its a parking lot for rvs. Thats it. And it does get COLD there.

RE: LOW's (Loners on Wheels)

Since my mother organized and ran the local LOWs for many years, I will give you my views of it.
In NTex, there was and still is (mother has passed on) a few people who live in the general area that are single (for whatever reason) who like to camp. IMO, very few people of age (and honestly that is what lowers are) of like to camp ALONE.
So they form a club under the natl banner of LOWs and have monthly meetings. In these meetings they form the ideas of how, when, where, etc of their montly camping trips. In this case, they decided no trips over 100 miles. They would get together each month at an rv park setting, lake, private, etc. They would play games, discuss each ones life (yea they are good at that) , solve all the worldly problems, cook, eat, etc.
They were and are the actual pilars of the community , who have a inlike love of getting out in their rvs. And they range from Class Bs to the limit.
They are NOT a dating service or anything like that. In our chapters case, it was strickly a club where people got a chance to go camp with othes of like minds (and sometimes that became a hassel) and enjoy the escape of single living.
They do serve a purpose for single people that are not looking for companionship, but are looking for support while camping .
Robsouth, loners are people without companions, for whatever reason, not that they are hermits, There is a difference. I for one am a loner, as my wife passed on and I do not wish to live with another. But I also am a fulltimer who chooses to continue to live in my rv. Im curious , what would you call someone such as I?

RE: Any fulltimers regret the decision and quit???

Yep, I got tired of the road. Lost my way in life. Could not stand the people in rv parks that had no troubles. I needed that anchor to the land. That piece of land as described in Gods little acre. Some thing besides an rv park receipt that I could hold in my hand. That little piece of dirt filtering thru my fingers. Those blades of grass that put off coolness, firmness, beauty. I hated that part of paying that credit card each month for the fuel it took to escape from one park to the other. Missed the grandue of no land line, no place to kick back , work in the garage, make things, tear thing down and put em back together again. Always having to work or maintain my truck, washing, waxing and daily maintenance on the rv.
Having someone ask me where I lived brought tears to my eyes that I could not give a straight forward answer that included a zip code. The feeelings of not having a mail man everyday, a newspaper boy or a neighbor wanting to borrow something, drives me up a wall.

RE: Suggestions for Fulton/Rockport,TX - RV Parks/Resorts?

Rockport Fulton area, they range on the 1-10 scale from a 1 to a 6. I personally have never seen anything over a 6. On highway 35 on the east side of Fulton , on the north side of the road, is , IMO, the best rv park in town. However, it is the furthurest from all you mentioned.
Now on food, there are few choices. You go down on Fulton beach road and you will find the restrauants. All are good, none are bad. I have yet to figure out which one is best. For breakfaast you get two choices. Both on 35 on the west side of town and they are crisscross from each other. Both have good food and nice people.
The people in the town a just small town people , no pressures, no hassels, and they know where their bread is buttered with the Winter Texans.
Economic wise, it is rather cheap if you compare it to anyplace else.
Dancin? Cant help you there
Mexican restrauants are a plenty and cheap and good and you get way too much food for the money.
Beaches, you will be disappointed. Drive down to Port Aranasas and use the best beach in the south.
Internet, cable, showers, etc,.......not a great thing in this area.
Bars? On Friday night, if they ask if you have a weapon and you say no and they offer to loan you one, DONT GO IN. Seriously, the best bars are the ones in the Mexican rest.

RE: Time to eat some crow

If you will take that crow put it in a pot of boiling water, put a brick on top of it to hold it down, boil for 30 minuetes, drain the water, throw the crow away and eat the brick. It is a lot better that way.

RE: Beware of certain dealer

I would suggest you werent worried during the winter, I woulld aslo suggest that now that you want to go camping, you are upset.
If you let them get by with it this long, no one to blame but yourself. You should have raised a stink or gotten an attorney.

Yea it seems when I get to the point of leaving, and I want to take the soap, others have beaten me to it. Getting tired of having to stop at gas stops and checking to see if there are any in them.

If you are inclined in that area, be sure and take the Mission Tour. If you like zoos, it doesnt get much better than SA. I recommend either the KOA (omg) or the two up the street and ride the bus to the riverwalk and alamo.

RE: Cloudcroft NM Camping

There are , to my knowledge , no rv parks in Cloudcroft. However, on the road south to the main highway to Ruidoso, there is an antique rv park that has hook ups. It is normally full of lonnnnnnnng timers, but they do rent to overnighters etc. I would not see it on the 1-10 scale, but it is there about 5 miles south of Cloudcroft.
Now if you go on down to the main highway, there are several that would suit your needs.
Anywhere up there around Ruidoso, you will be cool and secenic. Leave the a/c at home, you wont need it.

LOL Mid Summer at GC. Yea , sure. 110 degrees . We used to go every Mar 1-15 and return Sept 1-15th. I can handle 40 degrees a lot better than 110 in the shade.

RE: home base state

There are only a few things to really consider when deciding where to domicle.
No 1.............Taxes. Income state tax?
No2..............Insurance both on you and the rv
No 3.............Taxes that you will be subject to ...
No 4.............Protection provided by state laws. Example.... No such thing as wage or pension or earning can be touched in Tx. Can they in other states?
Do not take people word on things on forums. Check out the laws of each state that you consider and make the best choice that suits YOUR needs, not your neighbors.
