RE: New toy!

Congratulations !!! Have Fun Why is your yard green ? Mine is still brown and white :B Mine has 4 feet of snow and ice, consider your self lucky for just being able to see the ground :B anyway, that lance has basically the same floor plan as my Adventurer 810ws except one thing i cant figure out why lance doesn't have. on mine behind the dinette and under the fridge a counter stick out with ample storage. its just lower than back of the seat and the fridge goes from there to the roof. whats behind that seat? open space and wall? on mine under the fridge is LP, and a storage compartment just big enough for a yamaha 1000 which is accessed from the outside. heres a picture of what i mean. http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp120/campalaska/IMG_1291.jpg height=500 width=600 there's a view from door (floor plan looks same doesn't it) http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp120/campalaska/IMG_1316.jpg height=500 width=600 counter and bottom of fridge and some of the storage. just wondering whats back there. seams like it would be dumb to leave it empty.:?

RE: adding a second battery

I just upgraded to 2 Golf Car 6 volt batteries following the directions on 12 Volt Side of Life site. I found some "factory blems" which had some cosmetic damage at a local industrial battery supply. They ran $35 each - I also put a battery cut off switch on at the same time. Awesome advice on this site. Good luck. you got 6 volt deep cycle batteries for $35 each? where can i find that deal?

RE: Am I The Only One Who Wants A System Like This?

It will work and the alternator will handle it just fine. Are you absolutely sure? i cant find info on my alternator size any ware. i would have a 1000 watt inverter, but probably not go over 800, but want the ability to go to 1000. 1000 watts of DC at 12v is 83.3 amps plus inverter loss so ill says 90 amps. i have the stock alternator out of a 99 gmc sierra 2500. along the lines of battery brain, it will drain my starting battery along with house, them just cut off house when its to low? I thing it would be cheaper and safer if i just go with a solenoid as i only connect when running engine.

RE: Am I The Only One Who Wants A System Like This?

One thing i really dont like about this forum is that people always say to get what the majority has. I dont want to listen to a motor. if i have to a yamaha or honda will annoy me as much as a cheepie 2 stroke. I want piece and quiet, and a generator doesn't deliver that. Solar is expansive. This will charge while im driving and wont when im not. Im so power frugal (i dont even try) i went 6 days and 7 nights on my one g24 5 year old battery (70% discharge) with out a amp going into that battery, 4 golf cart 6volters, would be like all the batteries in the world to some of you. all i want to know is if it works assuming my alternator can handle it.

how much does a second alt. run? 150 amp cont. would be nice.

RE: Am I The Only One Who Wants A System Like This?

i do have 1 15 watt solar but it's not really there for charging, just for keeping the batts up when sitting in the drive, also if my engine dies or any important part of it having charged house batteries is the least of my problems, and i highly doubt that adding extra load (but with in cont. rating would cause a problem.

Am I The Only One Who Wants A System Like This?

I'm wondering A. if anyone has done this. and B if its even possible. Basically id like to do a good charge on my truck camper batteries (soon to b 2 6 volters)while im driving and have some minor 120v things (basically just a blender quick). I don't want a generator, and im always in the trees so solar is out. I want to put my current g24 battery in the bed hooked to the starting battery ( i have a gasser)through 2 gauge wire and a battery isolator or equiv. this would feed an MSW inverter, then powering the whole house and batt charger (3 stage xantrex. the though of this and not just hooking the alternator up to the house batteries is that they will get a good charge (less voltage drop due to 1/2 the wire run)and give me 120 power without generator and draining house battery. what do you think? anything i left out?

RE: small generator

why can't someone use a single stage. mine has a 30 amp single, whats so bad about it, it works.
